Hi all, i would like to sign up for a hotel program but the main issue is that i live in HBA. Now we have a Federal program here and an Accor. Does anyone know of any other programs out there? I often travel to other cities but generally my hotel stays are in MEL, SYD possibly BRI (brisbane - i dont know the code!)

I am thinking accor so far but i also wouldnt mind using a europe company as we intend on going there next year.

Rydges has a program, and just signing up to it (for free) gets you discounts on rooms and dining.

Doesn't help with the Europe side of things though. Are you talking of the pay up programs like Advantage Plus?

Yeah - We have a stay at the Breakfree Savannah on the Gold Coast for a week for MrsGurio's work which as far as i am aware isnt part of any hotel program.

But yes we are thinking of getting the Accor program because there is a Hotel here and all over the country...

Certainly to my knowledge, neither Breakfree or its parent, Stella, operate such a program.

While there are a number fo programs (e.g. Hilton, Starwood, Stamford, Intercontinental group), for sheer numbers of hotels around Aust/NZ it is pretty hard to go past Accor.

Having just spent the weekend in HBA (first time in ~10 years), with a group from Flyertalk, when choosing the accomodation that was one of the frustrating things for some of us. Still, given the population and visitor numbers, I can understand that the major chains don't see revenue size, value and profit.

I suppose you need to look at what hotel chains are near to where you need to be in MEL, SYD and BNE. Rydges would make sense if looking at a mostly Australian properties (as it's also got a property in HBA) but Priority Club (Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn + others) would make sense when you indicate a European base. Hilton or Sheraton would also make some sense.

Also depends on budget, if i may guess your not into spending a whole heap of $$$ when you stay and usually wouls stay 4* but maybe sometimes 5* i would think take a look at IC Priority Club, atleast its easy to earn status and points.

Hilton etc i find generally i dont stay as much at due to the $$$

As one who is still in Hobart I must agree with Lindsay. It's a frustrating situation re Hobart however for the other locations I'd look at availability for the areas you are frequenting and pick the best from that. Remember that several of the chains have discount programs available that may help.

For example, Hilton has Hilton Premium Club that gives you 20% discount across the board.
