I am booking my kids on RTW tickets with *A. I wanted to get them into a FF program that would subsequently give them each a return award ticket. I think they may be able to get from BNE to NZ as it looks like they need 25,000 points for this and they should get close to this on the RTW trip. What would be the best FF program to sign them up to?

Also, any other suggestions as to where you could go on 25,000 *A points from Brisbane?

Lindsay,

Thanks for your advice. It is much appreciated. However, given the AA platinum challenge, maybe for an extra $100 I should rebook them on a 1world RTW, join them up to AA and sign them up for the challenge. That way they would have platinum status by the time they get to the states and earn double miles all the way round.

Lindsay, you are correct.
The only problem is that Oneworld RTWs are only avbl in fare code L which only gives 50% Qpoints. I have worked out that they will still get to the required 10,000 Qpoints by the time they get to SIN on the way home, so the result is achieved, though not with as many miles as hoped.

Back in Oz at last. Wife and kids now all AA Platinum FF after their RTW flights.

I flew with them on the JFK to LHR sector and managed to score an operational upgrade for all 5 of us. Family were most impressed, so I scored some brownie points. :D

I think I was just lucky enough to turn up at the desk at the right moment when they were working out how to cope with the overbookings in economy.

Bob, great to hear that you have all made it back safely, with many AA Plat members in tow.

Wow, what a operational upgraders dream - 5 pax to J on the one flight!! At that stage none of your children would have been Plat and considering it was on a lower fare basis, I think your timing was excellent too 8)

Now they just have to do some domestic flying (or more international) to enjoy the upgraded check-in, QC access etc..
