This reminds me...there were no F mattress on my QF127 sitting in 4A flying J.

That was annoying...

That’s a daytime flight, isn’t it? If J get mattresses then those in the F cabin should too.

yes but the difference between J and F mattresses is huge, which is what I assumed he meant. that he didn’t get the beautiful F mattress. One of the few things I am still enthusiastic about with Qantas F is the mattress :)

Presume J mattresses wouldn’t properly fit the F bed, so that’s what I meant too. But if a J mattress fits and was provided, can’t really complain. Disappointing for sure though.

Each to their own on the mattresses... i find them way too hot... they seem to generate heat of their own accord :( i sleep without them.

Sorry I meant only J mattresses available which didn’t really fit too well so I went without. Day flight meant not so bad still got some sleep.

My recent flight was 9s across the board... just three of us in the cabin until 2 or 3 days prior... then the upgrades started. We went out 14/14.
Good call. In the space of 24 hours F9 went to F6 and then F1. QF1. Interestingly the A380 flight to SIN earlier in the day remained F9 24 hours out. I didn’t check it again.

While there isn’t much difference in the seats, thought I’d post some observations / opinions on 4A.

Having three windows was good for the sunset view. Albeit quite a distance away (windows and horizon).

Was a bit of galley noise. And could hear a baby crying from the Y cabin during taxi and on descent. Maybe a combo of curtain(s) open and not wearing headphones. When I had them on, no disturbance. Sure hope the poor little one wasn’t crying all the time in between.

Main issue as suspected was the more frequent passing of staff, but hardly a problem.

My food order was taken second last (in entire cabin) but didn’t miss out. Provision of food just seemed to match my pace so was also not a problem.

I’d still think 1, 2 and 3 better.

How full was the cabin? They seem to really struggle when it’s full.
Best I could tell it was full. Only one unallocated seat 12 hours before flight. And while I didn’t walk around it did seem full.

Maybe you lucked out with a good crew :)

My crew member asked if i wanted a macaroni with my coffee

Seat 3A was indeed better than 4A, at least in terms of noise. Meal selection again taken in order of seats but then a pax in 2F was told later they had run out of what he had asked for (twice). I presume this was status based. Dividers were still down for some reason so I could see. Not sure if anyone else had the same issue with not getting their choice.

Privacy screens raised after I asked. Without them the cabin is quite open and distracting.

Was this the 36 back from SIN? How long did the meal service take?

I thought dividers could be raised by passengers? (the side seats are individually controlled)

Yes it was.

Service was quick. Meal orders taken while on the ground. No pre-supper drinks after take-off, though I asked for one instead of the champagne refills while still on ground. The drink came 5 minutes after seatbelt sign went off. My table was set 2 minutes later. Food took a few minutes to arrive. I had soup, starter, main and dessert. Aside from the initial gap between table setup and the soup, there were no gaps or waits at all between courses. I am a pretty slow eater though. Will post food and menus in the relevant thread.

Cabin was full and seemed to me everyone was eating. Crew were fully occupied but handled it all really well. Reckon it was all done within 60 to 90 minutes (but wasn't watching the clock). Beds started to be made as I was having dessert and coffee. Extra crew came to help at this stage which was smart.

Check your powerball ticket!! :D
Didn't buy one this week, sadly.
It could have been a bit longer. But I've definitely had slow, longer service on the A330s in J trans-con or trans-Tasman - over 90 minutes with big gaps between courses. This felt nothing like that.

They can be but they are locked down for takeoff and landing and need to be unlocked before pax can play with them. In my more recent experience when the crew unlocks them they also raise them all throughout the cabin.
