I obtain all my FF points by Amex and Altitude card use. I accumulate well over 200K FF points per year but will probably always remain a Qantas bronze status member although I fly heaps.

I've just received a Diners Club card because of their free International airport lounges http://www.dinersclub.com/en/DCIHome/airport.jhtml and would like members feedback as to what they are like.

I have also been thinking of paying for Qantas Club membership or Priority Pass http://www.prioritypass.com but would like to know what is the best lounge option for me.

Thanks,
Jim

It really depends on which airports do you use and which airlines do you fly.
If you check the Diners, you will notice that they do not have any airport lounges in Australia. So check that carefully.

If you fly QF often, then Qantas Club would be a good option. Check with your office, travel agent or any professional association you may belong to - they might have a corporate rate which is cheaper than the standard ones.

Hi Arun,
Diners Club has a few lounges on my next FF world trip:
Brisbane-Singapore-London-Amsterdam-London-Jersey-Manchester-Berlin-London-Seattle-Vancouver-Hong Kong-Brisbane

Priority Pass club like Diners club doesn't care who you fly with. Can anyone tell me about either of them?

Are there other airlines which will admit entry with a Qantas Club card? Is there any thing like a OneWorld club?

Jim

Don't forget that you can join the Qantas Club using points rather than cash - to join will cost you 120,000 points, not sure about the renewal rate.

Forgot to answer the other part of your question - Qantas Club will get you access to Qantas, British Airways, American Airlines and US Air lounges when your next onward flight is on that carrier that day. It will NOT get you into Iberia, Lan Chile, Cathay Pacific, Finnair or aer Lingus lounges. To access these lounges, you need to be oneworld sapphire (QF Gold) or emerald (QF Platinum).

As far as US Air lounges go, they are about to join Star Alliance, so I can't see that access will continue, but then, stranger things have happened.

Dave

Jim,

I've used the Diners Club lounges in Auckland and San Francisco, and would have to say they are as good as or better than the dedicated airline lounges. If the setup is still the same, they are usually unmanned and you simply swipe your Diners Card to operate the door. There is a well stocked self-serve bar and most of the other facilities you would expect to find.

Cheers

Jim, well perhaps this next trip will push you over to that magical Silver level - at least that will give yu the ability to enter the hallowed domain of the QP (Qantas Pub as some call it).

I think Priority Pass is way too expensive (recently in SIN and KUL where it was USD$25 entry). A lot does depend on cities most frequented, what facilities there are and who you fly with.

I've seen the Diners club lounges but never been inside (same for Priority Pass).

Only for one visit though - you need to be Gold or Platinum to get access every time.

Qantas Club is the way to go!

In my opinion Qantas Club has some of the best airport lounges in the world. They in 2002-2004 have upgraded and refurbished every single Qantas Club/Chairman's Lounge and the lounge in Bangkok, Singapore, Honolulu, Auckland and Singapore (in Singapore they made minor changes and introduced First Class lounge)

Not to mention the great new Terminal 4 Los Angeles (LAX airport, flights to Sydney and New York opperated from Terminal 4)

It is very much worth the cost of the Qantas Club membership, which has access to AA/BA lounges. If your redeeming Q miles then you would be going through the AA/BA/Qantas area of the airport anyway so you could use there facilities.

tha docta indicated that - "Qantas Club will get you access to Qantas, British Airways, American Airlines and US Air lounges when your next onward flight is on that carrier that day. It will NOT get you into Iberia, Lan Chile, Cathay Pacific, Finnair or aer Lingus lounges. To access these lounges, you need to be oneworld sapphire (QF Gold) or emerald (QF Platinum). "

As a mere QF Club Bronze Member (after losing Silver status by 10 status credit points last year...grrrr), I'm travelling on a Cathay flight Syd-HK-Paris-HK-Syd in June and wish to gain access to a lounge while in transit...any suggestions? Are there any lounges that will allow you in on a casual basis due to the QF membership?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Can't see any way you can get in sorry - they bend the rules a little bit for us Golds, and quite a bit for the Platinums, but for those who don't fly enough that they have to pay for lounge access they are generally unrelenting as far as applying the rules go.

Anyway you can change from CX to QF/BA? This will get you access.

I used to have ansett frequent flyer, everytime i play sport away from home i find that points were add but sometimes doesnt add much where u earn while ur flying, well i am thinking about join the qantas as well, but i thought would join the qantas club better than indeed of frequent flyer it will add automatic together on qantas club, it seem why should we pay so much money to fly and not much add on frequent fly, i spend roughly $20,000 on fly due of sport all the time  so i still dont know if i would use frequent flyer again it seem too much fuss going on, i have been upgrade as business class (twice or 3rd time), and have free flight 4th time. well this is my first time here as posting. i like to share the view with u all.

Come on Tag4, some structure would be nice.

He's been told in other threads - I guess the best thing is to ignore his posts until he learns how to compose a post.

Diners Lounges are Good!!

Guys DC lounges shouldnt be looked over -frankly there often combined lbusinness and even sentator lounges for severeal airlines - eg Stockholm Arlanda, Muenchen - Josef Strauss etc - some are small - Hambur, Frankfurt, Zuerich - but if you want a quiet place to relax with magazines, coffeee nibbles, free local calls, magazines and newspapers - theyre good - I always use them throughout Eu - never tried the US lounges never been to the US - but going soon - so Ill report back on them - I use the Lufthansa Bussiness Lounges also - uprgrading long haul sectors - good - showers, rest rooms, food papers, lots of wines must say the DIners lounges can compare favourably - as for Qantas - well Eu standards of service far exceed any level of service on /in Au carriers aircraft and lounges - and now that AN is gone (which was world class - ) we dont have any standards of comparison here in AU
Qantas Business Class - rename it naz_ class - unless your some blonde frizzled crocodile skinned bimbo with pink lipstick forget about any service - Ive been asked several times if my drink evaporated when i asked for another on long haul sectors - which means ive decided 4 a long time now not to use QF except domestically
Try LH and you wont look back - and their Eu network is oprobably the best - better than BA!!! even after trimming a lot of their flights to smaller cities -eg SKG HER TIR and letting their offshots deal with these tourist routes

Does anyone have a list of the the prioritypass lounges? Their website won't let you see which are their airport lounges unless you are already a member. I've been to a lot of airport lounges that I wouldn't bother paying US$24 to get into.

I've done some research on DC lounges, and it appears as though they rarely, if ever, have shower facilities. Is this correct?

Are DC lounges more like a waiting room with drinks, nibbles and magazines rather than a full service Lounge such as Qantas Club?

Thanks guys.
