There is now a night time curfew in bangkok 10pm-5am until further notice. This could cause major hassles for getting to and from the airport

I think the last time the had the same curfew people were waiting at the airport until the morning. But IIRC it didn't last too long as it was somewhat impractical to manage.

while I absolutely don't recommend it... I forgot all about curfew one time and ended up walking back to my hotel close to midnight. Thankfully I didn't get questioned.

There is some talk on twitter but I am awaiting official confirmation that people going to the airport to leave the country may do so at any hour.

There was a curfew during the military operation in Bangkok in May 2010. I believe there was one also during the coup of 2006. I too would not anticipate it would last too long, but will be long enough to clear the protest zones.... so long as people dont keep going to them.

At this stage all shopping centres will close at 8pm.

If this continues to Monday it will personally affect my travel plans as I am only passing through bangkok to pick something up from a shop on the way to europe and I wont arrive til 7pm.... I don't know whether ill just continue as planned or not now

I'm on my way to BKK now and shortly boarding. Arrival time is 7am thankfully. My next departure is at 00:30 so, to be safe, I think ill just get back to the airport by 10. I'll be having dinner in Silom though so I'll be curious to see if things do pack up early.

Thats news to me! Staggered back the JW Marriott at around 2am last night, not a problem in sight. the night before it was 12am and we drove half way across the city....

I am flying in a week before you but stupidity has me passing through BKK 4 times in 2 weeks including 2 late night arrivsls.

yes should not speak too soon, its changed within about one hour. looks like the last late night walk for a while. the hotel is going into a bit of a lockdown.

Yes. That was last night and night before. Try it tonight!

Curfew in place and my regular shops and eateries in the area were closed by 21:30 tonight. TV has also been shutdown - both local & cable. Going to be a long rest of the week, and a real PITA for using the BTS until it's cancelled, as it will stop running at 21:00.

Also heard that a friend (flight attendant) who was scheduled for a 22:00 departure, has been delayed until 01:00 tomorrow; would hate to be arriving or scheduled to depart *any* time from between 22:00 and 05:00 right now . . . .

Staying in Ploenchit since yesterday. BTS station was to close at 9:00 tonight, an hour prior to curfew but hotel staff informed us that it closed sooner at 8:00 pm.

This curfew from 10pm-5am is a real worry.

Due to arrive at BKK airport at ~10:30pm on 04 June and straight down to Pattaya for golf next morning and then coming back from HKG lounge crawl ~11:30pm on 08 June to BKK hotel and then Pattaya in morning for golf.

It would be a shame to be confined to airport for the night as I have paid for mon-refundable room and will be struggling to play golf.

It has been confirmed that if you carry your passport and printout of ticket/itinerary you may travel to and from the airport at any time. AOT have announced taxi's will be available to take passengers from the airport during curfew hours.

Pleased to hear that AOT are/have lifted their game during "coups" and/or occupations".
Stated earlier in this thread, AFFs should check their travel insurance policies. Claiming delays, and other incoveniences may now become problematic.
Makis10 earlier post for QF customers is good reading.
IMHO, this is not going to better soon in Thailand. Take care, everyone and Cheers, PJ

I hope this includes private cars as well as taxis.

This starts to get extremely complicated.

Aussie_flyer.... Will you keep us informed please, [U.S.Award Flight]I will be coming in to Bangkok from Paris on the 25th July to go to Hua Hin for 10 nts,but have 2nts at Grand Hyatt Bangkok on arrival, wife is starting to worry!!!

TID have published an insurance update- policies issued prior to- with travel booked prior to- the 13th Jan will be covered for changes/cancellation/possibly more.

Travel booked or policies issued after that date are not as the issues were no longer "unforeseen". Pretty fair I reckon, blind Freddy could see something coming to a head. This is possibly the most bloodless way, hopefully.
