My take on it is, it's like QF already done this for everyone for all flights no matter on your age just your status is what counts

Platinums requesting release of awards seats is very different. It’s asking yield management to convert a revenue seat to an award.

QF cannot do that for emirates, they don’t control the EK inventory or yield management.

Unless you’re suggesting QF holds on to the EK award space but blocks it from view… but then you’d have thousands of extra calls coming in to the call centre with people wondering if an award was available…

I am not suggesting QF are holding back EK flights. I am suggesting they are holding back QF flights to high status customers via the requests you can see in the thread I linked. If this wasn't the case then that thread would not exist.

My response was to the generalised assumption that QF are holding back seats for everyone no matter what their age just their status.

I have a different take. Which is that the platinum request is simply that… a request for yield management to consider turning a revenue seat into an award. And yield management will do it if it is in their financial interests.

I didn’t see this as a secret stash of awards limited by status… is a benefit where a revenue seat ‘may’ be released. It’s not a given.

and has zero to do with accessing EK seats.

As for checking age restrictions, there’s plenty of F award across the ditch to check but APIS (DoB) can be entered after booking - but usually required for ticketing.
