Bad experience in FLounge – Rude people

It's not only those on loudspeaker that are annoying. It's also those not on speaker that speak so loud that all other guests can here. We are not interested in your conversations and not impressed with your arrogance.

They have caked wax in their ears obviously but I hate this behaviour as well

With or without speaker people dining in the Flounge should not be making calls. Please leave the area if you need to take a call, I don't really need to hear all your company confidential information anyway.

Whilst the behaviour the OP described is abysmal (I can't imagine why anyone would want to share their private calls by loudspeaker .... But then I don't understand why people share so much private information via Facebook either...) there is also a deficiency in private areas to do calls in large lounges. In the headlong rush to have the best designer lounges some things are forgotten .... Like phone boothes. Last week I was looking for somewhere private in the QF SIN lounge to do a FaceTime (video) call. In the end I went over near the showers and did a phone to ear audio call. Maybe I didn't look hard enough but it would be nice to have a phone booth or three like they have in SQ's T2 J lounge to do such calls.

Why would you expect it to be any different than the rest of society. We all see it all the time, society just has less manners than our grandparents did.

Appalling but just the way of things. Sometimes I feel like I'm the last sole persons who doesn't answer their phone while talking to others if it rings.

If you can't beat them, why not just sit down next to them and join in the conversation under the pretext that having a public forum was clearly their intention.?

In the Narita SQ shared lounge we watched a couple load up their carry on with biscuits and crisps so I guess where they were going had none of these. Pretty crazy when you are flying first class but that is what they were doing with 8 trips from their seats to fill both carry on bags to the top.

Sometimes I think people treat public lounges and lounge areas (eg shopping malls) and in this case 'private' lounges as merely an extension of their homes. To behave as they wish.

If you push mrsdrron too far with this sort of behavior she will tell you what you should do with your phone and where to go.But she does it with such panache so that all in the lounge know and usually approve.

Some people need to use loudspeaker, but should be more considerate of others. I actually have sympathy for the staff here. Pretty tough scenario. At least they tried to speak with the person in question. Perhaps it could have been escalated and an offer made to move the person to somewhere more private?

IMO if people NEED to use loudspeaker, they SHOULD use earphones at the same time. It's not all about them..

Mrscove received a 10 minute call from friends who were in the QF lounge in Los Angeles last night. Now they wouldn't worry about anyone listening in.

Narcissistic types are oblivious to societal norms and what other people think of their behaviours. What they see in the mirror is someone of importance; while we look at them and think "what a First Class tosser". Since they won't be considerate voluntarily the only option is for rules to be in place which the airlines are prepared to enforce without exception. I think a sign stating that anyone engaging in noisy or disruptive behaviour will not be permitted to remain in the lounge would suffice. The interpretation of what constitutes "loud or disruptive" could be at the discretion of the lounge staff.

Discretion of lounge staff is a very general ruling imho due to randomness of it really working.

As many have pointed out, maybe it's time for not only a dress code, but also a courtesy code when it comes to mobile conversations.
