Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

The old search engine came up today and I could find availability for the new non-stop United SYD-IAH flights for nearly every date I tried.
The new engine does not show the non-stop for any date I tried at all.
It's a ridiculous situation. Clearly LM has access to the inventory but the new engine is either a) poorly coded and tested or b) deliberately filtering search results or c) both.

THAI just released quite a bit of F seats SYD-BKK route. I checked Feb - June but could be more. Most seems to be just 1 seat per flight though. Good timing for me.

I am trying to get F - BKK to SYD and there isn't a single seat for the whole month of sept. Maybe sept haven't been released yet but there are heaps of business seats BKK to MEL for September

i checked a whole bunch of dates for september and in to october as well and nothing. Which is unusual. Don’t know if this is signaling some intended change to the a350? or it could just be that those seats have gone.

I use this route fairly frequently and availability this year seems to have been normal at two seats, initially, per flight.
The thing is, I suspect, that there was a rush of bookings up to November, ahead of last year's UA devaluation.
There are often more seats released in the week or so before departure.

Thanks for that but waiting to a week or 2 before is too stressful for me. I don't have the fortitude to risk not have a flight back and possibly having to get an economy ticket instead. Looks like I need to work on plan B (not sure what that will be yet )

Surely the easiest Plan B is to get J awards.Plenty of them
However there is to me something funny going on as right up to Dec 23 there are J awards most days but no Y or F awards.I wonder why no Y awards.

Yes probably the easiest but I was hoping for F. Thinking of using some of my qantas points instead so I can get F. Although paying for the fuel surcharges on qantas is never fun

That must be recent as I booked Dec 16 in F just last week.
Hopefully it's just temporary.

TG might be changing their release pattern on F. Not just BKK-SYD, there is hardly any to CDG or LHR, although seats are plenty up until July for all these routes.

It's not a LM issue. I can't find any seats on UA either after Aug 2.

TGed again. Thankfully it is just a BKK-HKG which is a free stopover booked on United. I'm not going to worry about it too much.

Anybody know if THAI will let me use first class lounge?

Are you transiting or actually stopping over in BKK? If just transiting without passing the immigration, then yes, they'll let you in F lounge. But if stopover, then no.

Stopover. Looks like I'm out of luck. Probably won't hurt to write a request.

TG just filed a few more aircraft changes. Lots of F's have been affected. This includes destinations like HKG, BOM, FRA, KIX, LHR. Did anyone get affected:

Thai Airways International S18 changes as of 25JAN18

Fortunately SYD has been spared this time
Expertflyer just sent me an aircraft change alert for TG471 in mid August. Fortunately just a change from their '744' designation to '747'. I.e. Old F 10 seat cabin to new 9 suite/seat cabin. Sadly I'm in J, so no material difference but hoping it holds as a 747 and the A350s don't hit Sydney until further down the track

I have a booking KUL-BKK-SYD on J/F in late Aug. on CMT it's only showing the KUL-BKK leg, and when I try to check my booking on TG website it's showing error. Something is going on there.....

Looks like TG cancelling all F to HKG.
Got flight change notice about downgrade to J, went to check other options on different times and TG website shows only A330 / B777 ex-HKG for my date in April.
