Australian state border restrictions

The 25km limit will be removed from 11:59 Thursday Night.

I’m hoping to travel to SA from Greater Melbourne with no COVID test and no quarantine in about a week for a weekend. I still don’t know anyone who has had COVID in Melbourne so I think my chances of having it are practically zero, so getting tested would be not only a pointless waste of resources, it would also make a weekend trip impractical.

I think I’ll have to change my dates but will wait and see what SA announces for now.
What's the issue using resources? Vic gov have wasted so much resources it's not funny. Get the test 2 days prior to departure, ample time for result, if that'll even be a requirement. It is for a trip to the snow now, oddly.

Also the fact you know nobody with covid has absolute nothing to do with anything, very irrelevant.
Best of luck thou.

I was surprised at how many vehicles (cars/camper van) I saw today in Sydney that carry Vic reg. Must have got out before the restrictions were originally imposed as a lot more than 25km from home.

MEL was also very busy today which surprised me! Oh well.

I've seen a lot in Perth since arriving on the weekend.

If they were rentals they were not necessarily being driven by Victorian drivers. Rego and insurance costs can be cheaper interstate than NSW so many rental companies register their vehicles elsewhere to save $.

Or they might be Victorians. I wasn't able to ask as we drove in heavy traffic.

P.S. Several of the cars looked a bit old to be hire cars.

Not sure if the right area but thinking of flying to Hobart from Adelaide via Melbourne transit this weekend. Was wondering whether there were restrictions/quarantine issues due to the Melbourne airport transit or whether it's counted as low risk and I'd safely travel through (I tried to tas.gov website but it's a little unclear).

Transit in Mel airport is usually fine from SA definition but they also get tetchy at times so is there a reason why not direct?

The SA definition appears to accept the transit however the Tas one says going to the airport is below medium risk but the definition is a little loose.

All the direct flights appear to be sold out unfortunately.

I’ve lost track of all the ridiculous state rules but we were definitely transiting loads of our team through MEL last week!

When JQ is the only direct option it’s a no brainer to transit elsewhere
MEL is fine to transit through as far as SA is concerned

New outbreak in Sydney by someone who went to 20 different places, and Queensland Health issues quarantine direction for those who visited those NSW areas. just a touch extreme.
They could speed up vaccinations if you gave them a free pass.

Tasmania has also declared the areas of concern in Sydney high risk so no travel to Tassie if you have been to them.

..and WA Public health advice issued for recent arrivals from New South Wales

WA Health has issued advice for recently returned travellers from NSW, after a positive case was detected in Sydney.

All arrivals into WA from NSW between Wednesday 9 June and Wednesday 16 June who have been to any of the listed exposure sites during the relevant times are required to:

  • get a COVID-19 test
  • self-quarantine for 14 days from date of exposure
  • present for a day 11 COVID-19 test

Oh Goodie. Business work to do in Sydney tomorrow. Returning Friday night. Sigh.

My boss is Adelaide based, been in Sydney all this week and flying home tomorrow. She is supposed to go on a driving holiday to NT on Saturday and worried SA will make her home quarantine (not that she has been to Bondi or eastern suburbs) or NT wont let her in. I was supposed to fly to Melbourne tomorrow, glad I rebooked for much later in the year.
