Australian state border restrictions

Another national cabinet meeting on Friday, which some say may change quarantine rules. It could be the basis for another Qld govt pivot to changes in quarantine rules.
Hopefully no quarantine for the double vaccinated on reaching 80%, including international (90% seems a bridge too far for Qld).

But QLD are already building a shiny new quartine facility in the desert funded by taxpayers - who are we going to put there? :p Answer: taxpayers, and make them pay again o_O

National Cabinet means nothing but outside the meeting, the tide has swiftly turned on all the slow states in an incredible way and the last remaining premiers with no plan / slow plans to open up are feeling the pinch now from opinion polls swinging.... so maybe we will see some more movement than we think on state borders....

Well it's too late now anyway, I just cancelled our flights last night and it's #NoWayWA for another Christmas. Our booking was in disarray anyway with multiple cancelled flights, Mrs FB's visa not approved still (spouse, so exempt under current rules) etc.

Fear not, this Pineapple immediately lobbied once locked out.
Yeah I'll have to try my local member too. The QLD government is definitely sulking since I have just put my second request in for hotel quarantine to return home to Townsville. In the first application to enter via BNE I didn't even get a confirmatory email, so I tried a different date to enter via CNS and got an auto-generated email saying application received, two weeks ago, and radio silence since.

I expect that there are multiple applications in for QLD residents to re-enter the state, but looks like the hotel quarantine system is booked/overloaded until the year 2026 if all applications are genuine and expected to turn up.

I suspect this is why the QLD state government threw open the date of the 17th Dec to allow quarrantineless entry into QLD from then (possibly also to light a fire underneath vaccine hesitancy in the QLD population). But you would be pretty silly/naive to trust the QLD state government at their word and it would be a pretty safe bet that the goalposts could get moved again before then.

Yep - if you follow the logic then according to the Tasmanian government health advice - having a Tas drivers licence confers some special immunity to catching or transmitting Covid when in another state that only a Tasmanian drivers licence seems to offer.
Basic logic. If Tasmania is Covid free, they've assessed seven days in a non-Covid free zone as acceptable risk. As with every line in the sand, the logic is debatable but it is what it is. There's obviously a political element in that it allows Tasmanians to have quick trips elsewhere, but there's also some logic behind it.

Tasmanian government have confirmed today after questioning that its not actually health advice (which makes sense because it’s not really very logical at all) - so its 100% political rubbish.

I'm with you bro. I've got a really solid December in regional NSW booked. I'm OK with testing but the logistics of getting the test done in the relevant time period are not as easy as some might think.

Though this winter they did very well as virtually no where else to go. NSW and Victoria only went into prolonged lockdown in july
It was hard to get some restaurant bookings in May,June and beginning July.Recently no problem at all.
I'd be interested to know how you perceive Tasmanian business at present? I only see the same people, but you, by job definition, are contacting across the board.
From my perspective, everyone I deal with is stressed out because they are way too busy. I needed a minor job done today, went to my usual business and they had a sign out, basically "coughk off, I'm full". Fortunately they accepted my wafer, but it's hardly a sign of an economy doing it tough!
My thought is that with the whole international business system messed up, a lot more activity is happening closer to home.

So only for approved travellers and still need to have 3 tests plus quarantine for 14 days.
It’s a change from Monday declaring that NSW would pose too much of a transit risk (whatever that means). The latest health advice might be a focus group.
