Australian state border restrictions

Not only do they have those extreme risk classifications, they are still playing ads on radio and outdoor digital signage telling us dirty NSWelshpeople how we are verboten to enter the PDR Victoria. Laughable.

Well we up in QLD have our army pointing our pineapple nukes at anyone south of us, anything to distract from our appalling vaccination program and inoculation rates.

It's well past the point of doing something simply to be seen doing something. The unnecessary damage that has been inflicted will sadly never be accounted for. At the moment we're waiting for NSW to set up its own closure then we could go straight from on checkpoint to the next. Or, do as the locals, and simply cross at one of the uncontrolled points.

If things keep going the way they are, the Victorians will need to move the checkpoint to the other direction to stop people leaving.

You’re now behind WA… last in the country…

Unsurprised given the amount of no shows we've had.... I hope the new CHO is more assertive compelling on vaccinations up here rather than this la-di-da approach so far.... given how everyone has tied vaccination rates to border restrictions its going to be hard to do much with such a poor public health program...

I'm sure the Feds will sink the boot in calling us dumb rednecks again, but the state government drive up here has been appalling as well as an uneducated population being lazy..... :(

Victoria has changed their border zones which is a step in the right direction. It's also great for people who are stuck in NSW wanting to come home to Victoria.

From midnight tonight red zone areas in NSW/ACT - mostly the regional LGA's in NSW - will be downgraded to orange zones, allowing both residents and non-residents to enter Victoria.

I think QLD and WA have been swapping positions for the wooden spoon.
You'd bring vaccination rates up to where they need to be fast if you too the VIC approach and hard-core lockdown with exit only Fully Vaxxed 70/80%. No COVID in WA or QLD, but just pretend these is.

In WA especially people are parochial and many not wanting to leave the state, no COVID, McGowan not letting it in, NO REASON TO GET VACCINATED.

Indeed sadly so many people are beyond complacent.

But I hope yesterdays mandate for FIFO workers has set the ball rolling for opening the border. There is already a big labour shortage so once the mandate comes into effect those businesses will ramp up the pressure for opening the border.

Up until now most of those companies have been very supportive of the hard border.

It's interesting, when you advance the argument that people are being locked in as well, most seem to have the view that you can leave anytime you want....

That’s a polite way of putting it.

I respond with “stay in the caves that Rio hasn’t blown up!”

Once the international border is open, will we see people going SYD-SIN-PER as you’re allowed in from SIN.

It will depend on what happens with international arrivals caps, and other quarantine arrangements in Perth.

Yes that’s true as there’s no lawful way to get from Sydney to Perth without going somewhere else. As more states get small numbers of covid cases those “somewhere else” places are getting smaller (eg BNE is increasingly not trusted by McGowan, and AP won’t let us in for the purposes of then going to WA)

To discourage shenanigans, Hotel Quarantine rising to 21 days in WA, and Home Quarantine 42 days with twice daily testing at your expense. WA will keep COVID out!

Thank you @nutwood, @PineappleSkip and @antycbr
Looks like Victoria have changed their stance and Greater Sydney have moved to Red Zone from Extreme Zone. I hope that it 1 or 2 weeks time, it will move further down There's light at the end of the tunnel. Yes 5 weeks is a long time in a Pandemic!
