Seems pretty clear triple vaxxed WA residents can leave and return where they are prepared to quarantine.

Just a matter of whether international quarantine (+getting in under arrivals cap) or interstate quarantine is more palatable- most saying neither.

National cabinet has wrapped up with no change on the list of essential workers

National Cabinet has wrapped, with no change to the list of essential workers or isolation requirements for now, despite calls from retailers.

Leaders of the states and territories reportedly told the national cabinet meeting they expected to see an increase in reported case numbers when school surveillance testing began, but all were seeing pressure on hospital wards ease.

There was also agreement between the states that they were facing difficulties driving Indigenous vaccination rates due to misinformation among some communities.

The Prime Minister highlighted the need for continued focus on vaccinations, pointing to health experts expecting a rise in cases heading into winter and risks being compounded by the flu season.

National cabinet will meet again in a fortnight.

Borders are also causing issues with Indigenous vaccination rates

I used to work in the WA wheatbelt. Can't imagine it's changed much. I just can't see a mask mandate getting a lot of traction in a rural pub.
I know in NSW, my daughter and I walked into a regional pub in early December and we were the only masks in the place. There wasn't a piano player, but if there had been, he'd have stopped playing.
We de-masked and had a good evening, albeit outside in the beer garden.

Seems damn slow getting going...;)

What a visual! Sounds like a scene from Casablanca.. Love it😂

Indeed. But as other states found, it could bounce around in low numbers for a while, before taking off. It's not Delta that's locked in though!

Anyhoo, as the hard border becomes an increasingly porous border as more and more exemptions and exceptions are made, it'll start moving up.

The testing is so low, no RATs, its sneaking around undetected.

Will be really interesting to see how quickly the numbers jump up when RATs are finally allowed.
I'm thinking May onwards. Easter mid April and the weather turns at the start of May.
Is anyone running a book on this?

I don't actually know when RATs become available and can be reported in WA, when that is confirmed I will place my bets on the virus spread there.

It will be spreading by the time RATs are allowed. They'll hold onto PCR as the preferred method as long as possible.
