"The man lives at an apartment in Broad Beach and is understood to have been in Melbourne on October 10 before coming back to QLD." - so why he was NOT in quarantine???

Because not everyone follows the rules, and Queensland police cant enforce every entry point.

Get vacicnated and breaches liek this wont matter.

And downward trend continues

That Vax rate for a place like NSW is fabulous. C'mon SA.

So he obviously in breach of public health order and should be fined for that. But its not mentioned anywhere by QLD officials - more then that - no one even said he did something wrong. That is very strange.

I believe he is in ICU, they probably waiting to see if he recovers before charging him.

Not a surprise. Testing rates are pretty poor in the Hunter.
One very good thing though is that hospitalization and ICU is holding steady here despite rising cases.

Currently 24 in hospital , 4 in ICU.

The vaccines are working !!!

I’ll be in the NSW case numbers tomorrow. Very mild symptoms and double vaccinated…

According to the contact tracer I spent an hour with this morning gyms are a big source of spread.

Lets hope that it doesn’t effect you too badly, did the tracers or has google given you any ideas on what drugs to take to get over the virus faster without any long terms effects.

No drugs other than paracetamol.

Positive cases get hospital in the home, in my case run from St Vincent’s Hospital in Darlinghurst. Later today a courier will deliver an oxygen test unit and a calibrated thermometer. I’ve got numbers to call and they call me once a day.

At the moment the issue is my partner is pending his test, once we know that I can stay here if he’s also positive but if he’s negative i should go to special health accommodation.

The hospital in the home kit just arrived…

Are gyms only open for double vax in Sydney?

Sooner or later we will all be infected. It is just that some of us will never know we are/were.

Exactly some models suggest 1 in 5 next year for Aus

Here's my somewhat tongue in cheek thoughts for the next few months, and a little beyond...

1) Wait a little to prove - most likely - that no curfews or lockdowns, short of the Wuhan style nailing of doors shut, will stop Delta, and certainly will not stop it from returning again, and again.
2) Maintain a level of lockdown which focuses on BIG problem spots (sorry, SW/W Sydney), but also overall minimization of the short-to-mid term spread (2-3 months). Accept flattening or flatness as 'good'. No further hardening of lockdowns.
3) Stop panicking about case numbers - track it; make it available to check; but focus only on infectious in the community and/or serious adverse conditions or deaths. Remind people that >99% of these people were not [fully/historically] vaccinated, or have serious co-morbidities, including advanced age. Remind people in addition that close to 500 people die in Australia from other causes every. single. day.
4) Allow fully vaccinated to mix with other fully vaccinated in certain environments (own home with limited numbers, outdoor events, outdoor F&B).
5) Advise at a national level of mandatory vaccinations or +ve recovery passes (as we see in some other nations) in as many environments as is possible. Develop a process for similar digital passes for those who are medically unable to be vaccinated.
6) Vaccinate vaccinate vaccinate - admit to all that it's not fair on the country and it's people to try and stop the spread by indefinitely stopping life for 100% of people. Everyone who can, must be vaccinated as soon as is practicably possible, and with whichever brand of vaccine they can get into their arms.
7) Grin and bare it for a while.
8) Mid November: Reach the fabled 80% target of double-dose protection nation-wide
9) Tell those who are at risk by choice that we are done, now, and it is now up to them to look after themselves - continue to encourage shots for all that can, on the basis of the billions of sample data points, with only the tiniest fractions of risk, and definitely no microchips or 5G coverage.
10) Let it rip.
11) Enjoy Christmas with a family that we haven't seen in 18 months, in whatever part of Australia, or god's good earth that you so choose.
12) Hear about an odd virus circulating in some part of the world, code named SARS-CoV-3 / COVID-22...
13) Read story about WA still closed and with a State-wide ring of steel, 30% vaccinated and pushing hard for COVID-19 zero

Cheers,
Matt.

Its good to Lookback from time to time. (2 months)

1) Yes - QLD nailing borders shut work. VIC not so much. There will be other variants.
2) Every metric is falling in NSW. Though Reff might be starting to creep up - can only look back on a 5-7 day period. Lockdown ended for 2Jab people. CovidZero is not policy anymore
3) Yes the 1100 am freakshow has ended. People will continue to die from other causes. Lots of talk about people with comorbidities being more at risk of dying from Covid but politicians do not dare fat -shaming but continually shame everyone else.
4)Everyone vaxxed and unvaxxed mixing in Woolies/coles/Aldi and Bunnings/Mitre 10 - as they have throughout the pandemic
5)Domestic Vax Cert and Internal Vax certs
6)Getting there, excess of jabs compared to people wanting jabs. AZ production to end
7)Whats the point of grinning behind a mask?😷. Most people have had enough. Most politicians now know they have used their last bullet.
8)1 month earlier for NSW. 2 weeks earilier for AUS
9)Unvaxxed are already let loose now despite the 1Dec - no one is checking Vax Cert at entrance to shopping malls - especially Westfield. Ive had to only show Vax cert once since Oct18
10)No one is letting it rip. Its a gradual return to normality. That was a journalist comment looking for a headline. I dont think NSW falls into the "Let it rip" category.
11)Yes
12)Its still happening and people still getting positive but becoming less relevant in many places. India no longer overwhelmed. In other places, politics of the pandemic still playing out.
13)WA premier doing Nudge politics. Walked back reclassifying QLD from low risk to very low risk. Also trying to entice unvaxxed people with a free sausage sanger at Bunnings.. 59% at the moment. Even lost PER to DRW re QF787. But the electorate apparently backs him

Is the gym forced to close as well, or just deep clean?

Schools also seem to be a hotbed particularly primary with no vaccination.
