So what are people's opinion/narrative to explain ACT's numbers?

'Record' positive tests against the backdrop of high vaccination rates and in their quasi-lockdown. 13 in hospital and 3 in ICU with ventilator patients.

Very high vaccinations .…

The ACTs numbers are about what you would expect.
Greater Newcastle has a similar (slightly higher population) than the ACT. Been in lockdown since early August.
We have had ~1000 cases in this outbreak. Currently have 20 patients in hospital and 3 in ICU (2 patients are from out with our LHD).

Currently ~700 active cases.
This is the breakdown of age/ vaccination state of all cases in HNE so far in the outbreak.
Majority of the cases are under 40 and unvaccinated.

The vaccines work, younger people don’t tend to end up admitted to hospital.
I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom in the ACT.
Delta can’t be eliminated, only controlled.

By my observations, the lockdown isn't being followed by a lot of Novacastrians.

I remember when Sydney first went into a lockdown, and we had mandatory masks rules for the first time (but no lockdown), the city was a ghost town, presumably because nobody wanted to wear masks at work.

Now the novelty has worn off, everybody is going to work, everybody is going to the shops, the roads are back to normal.

I agree. It’s much busier than it was at the beginning of the current one.
Likely the same in the ACT.

My point is that our vaccination program is working. Same as the ACT with respect to cases/ hospitalization

ABC blog reoorts some good news:

"NSW: Isolation requirement change for those fully vaccinated

From October 11, any person in NSW who is a close contact of a positive case and is vaccinated, will only be required to get tested and self-isolate for seven days instead of 14.

If a person tests positive for COVID-19, they will be required to self-isolate for 14 days, regardless of their vaccination status."

Very interesting that Queensland appears to have dodged the Covid bullet. I can't help speculating as to whether this has to do with the seasons. Traditionally, we'd be moving out of flu season now. Obviously only speculation without more detail, but Queensland seems to have dodged the bullet several times now and I'm not seeing anything that convinces me that it's superior management.

It looks like they're already going to trial shorter Q periods in Vic for essential industry such as supermarkets, food supply, medial, etc. Too many people out for too long at the moment placing too much strain on the system. If that works it's logical they will extend it to others.

Plus is highly unlikely anyone is paying much attention to them anymore anyway. Especially now so many people are double vaxxed.

Massive drop off in people checking in, in NSW to avoid any iso - I’m sure that is happening everywhere. People are completely over it.

Is it luck/strategy or is it being further north, with less dense pockets of population?

Totally get that concept. 14 days iso and three tests in SA, if in the same place (regardless of size of that place, nor vaccination status) and we are required to wear masks always inside. And isolate. Ummm, why?

Almost PERfect over in WA @oz_mark.
We pretty much cannot get in or out.
Maybe they selected the interviews tonight on TV but the people wanting WA to stay shut - for years - was mind blowing. Even young hippie style surfies. SIL is in Perth and sees no need to open. The fact her only son is in Melbourne and cannot/will not be able to visit her, either escapes her or she doesn't care. I cannot talk to her any more.
