Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The whole “emergency services” only phase is problematic. Society still needs garbage truck drivers, water treatment staff, electricity grid worker, sewer system workers etc to come to work to provide “essential services”. Vic went through this last year, hence the longer list of jobs that fit the criteria.

On top of the back end support VIC was already providing, NSW Health is now asking for more assistance as contact tracers fall further behind the outbreak.

VIC declined putting frontline tracers onto help after the Sydney outbreak leaked across the NSW border as they are now required to mop up the outbreak in VIC.

Good to see a couple of other states helping despite the public condemnation of NSW’s handling of the outbreak in the media!

NSW pleads for more contact tracing help as Sydney locks down hard

NSW has been forced to seek urgent help from other states to boost its contact tracing capability, as its COVID-19 tracking system struggles to keep pace with the growing outbreak.

The state made an “open request” for assistance during a meeting of Australia’s federal and state chief medical officers on Friday, with the Commonwealth, South Australian and Western Australian governments all agreeing to help. Victoria knocked back the request, as it works to trace its own outbreak, leaked from NSW.

Looks like the new rules are still confusing in NSW

Retailers call for clarity on Sydney's COVID lockdown

Retailers say more clarity is needed about Greater Sydney's COVID lockdown for workers who live in the Fairfield, Liverpool and Canterbury-Bankstown local government areas.
I have seen a flyer from Coles telling staff from the 3 LGAs.that they can still go to work outside the LGAs because they are 'essential'.

The list is here and is much longer than what was announced in the press conference.

The way the exemption criteria is increasing, almost everyone living in the 3 affected LGAs will now be considered an essential worker...so the spread will continue!

Hopefully this is raised in the press conference. Wait for it..."the health advice".

It all seems rather odd. Dr Chant was very clear yesterday that those LGAs were only to leave home for work if Emergency Services or HCW.
But the list seems to encompass all of the work that people can now leave home for anywhere in Greater Sydney as it is “critical” and can’t be done from home.

Some of it I get. Moorebank is a huge logistics hub and needs to be staffed. But if your essential, sorry “critical” retail store outside the lockdown area can’t open due to staffing issues so be it. There are alternatives for almost everything.

Tik tok: 105 cases tomorrow
Unbelievably accurate! The fact that MoH has not shut down the leak means the MoH is probably behind or condones the leak!

AAMI Park is now a transmission site and health advice has been strengthened.

Now that they have a new case, CCTV is being examined (Remember this case result came in after midnight).

VIC: The positive case in Mildura

The ABC understands a middle-aged person presented at the Mildura Base Public Hospital on Saturday with COVID symptoms.
He presented at the hospital with symptoms, says Jeroen Weimar.
He says: "My understanding was that he was in members reserve."
The person has returned a positive result.
It is understood the person was infectious in the Mildura community for several days.
It is believed that that are a Mildura local.

Vic Lockdown Extension.

There were rumours on this this morning.

At the Vic Presser today it has been stated by Dan Andrews that there is as yet no extension to the lockdown. There are also no regional lockdown easings (note Ballarat, Phillip Island now now Mildura Cases have shown that the Regional Lockdown has been prudent).

Obviously this could change from day to day.

Shouldn’t he have already been isolating pending a Covid test result before getting sick and going to hospital ? He was at the MCG and that was listed days ago.
