Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Yes, it would seem to be the case, very tactical.

Although looking at where last year's dire situation came from, and even the situation earlier this year that went of of the Holiday Inn, (the outer northern and western suburbs), it might be prudent to make this area a priority.

Yes agree that there are a variety of demographics at play in those regions, including related to having more low paid casual workers, that that can result in a greater Ro and so also it is important that we achieve good vaccination rates in these regions in particular.

Fake news.

ABC confirms:

Victorian health authorities say there is 'no change' to vaccine eligibility

There have been some media reports that Victorian health authorities are about to expand vaccine eligibility in Melbourne's north in the wake of the two likely cases.

We asked the Department of Health if that was correct and here's what they told us:

"This is not correct. There is no change to eligibility.

"Victoria’s focus is on priority population groups eligible under the Commonwealth’s COVID-19 vaccination program. The Department is regularly exploring options for new vaccination centre locations and has previously said that further locations will open."

Its been more than 2 weeks since the case and the only spread was to spouse. NSW health no longer list this as being investigation and their site says "There are currently no locations in NSW associated with a confirmed COVID-19 case."

The infected couple were diligent at checking in everywhere (so we didn't have Vic situation of listing the wrong store) and all close contacts have been tested more than once (and finished their iso), there is zero need to try and stir up panic in NSW to deflect attention from Vic.

I’m so sorry you are panicked again, its just annoying NSW keep having mystery cases they can’t track, I guess that comes with a pandemic, no contact tracing is perfect!

I’m sorry if alarmed you, I don’t see anyone else panicking - but there really is nothing much to worry about. Try to stay calm and put things in perspective.

Im not panicked at all. NSW has the most measured response to Covid, we dont live in constant fear of being locked down like other states.

It obvious from my post I was calling for calm, as there are no current warnings for NSW, you were the one trying to imply there was something to be concerned about in NSW right now when there clearly isn't.

Exposure Sites:

By Yasmin Jeffery

If you have been to the following exposure sites, you're required to get tested and quarantine

  • Jump Swim School in Bundoora on May 21 between the hours of 8:55am and 10:15am.
  • High Point shopping centre on May 20 between 5:00pm and 8:00pm.

From Presser

Foley has indicated that exposure period may have been since 18 May.

Sutton has indicated that the group have few other close contacts. Main group is from the swimming class.
Sutton expects other exposure sites.

News: Why BioNTech chose Singapore as its Asia-Pacific vaccine hub

Now about Operations Research and Victoria. Optimum outcomes is THE objective. Assuming the experts have OR capability, keeping jabs going in the riskiest LGA's based upon known prior outbreaks IS the go, sorted by priorty. If there are no priority cases in line, any arm is acceptable. It is very sad, when even in NT, you hear crickets chirping in vax centres.

The “new” mandated Qld Gov QR code system makes it extremely simple, and you can checkin multiple people at the same time. Pity it took governments so long to roll out. The older restaurant QR codes were a big PITB.
Yes and in my experience led to a lot of junk/spam texts and phone calls.

22 May has been added to the list

Yes, I see now, and the earlier dates removed. Must have been in the process of updating it when I looked at it, as it had both 8 May and 22 May timings for the different sites and now only 22 May.

The genomic testing will be interesting, geographically it seems to much of a coincidence for the cases to be unlinked.

No I wasn’t- but again if you have interpreted it that way and I’ve subsequently panicked you I do apologise, we need to keep everything in perspective with these ongoing minor outbreaks all around Australia, not just in NSW and VIC, but everywhere :)

I wonder if the 70 year old was vaccinated, and if not why not....?

Good news at least I guess, no new cases.

Victoria records no new coronavirus

There is a 5th case reported but it will be in tomorrow's numbers.
