Australian living overseas. Is the grass greener?

They way i’ve read about it for example you move overseas but family doesn’t and they remain in family home and you return regularly it can be difficult to prove you are not a resident, irrespective of 183 days.

Which is not always a problem depending upon the amount of foreign tax credits. Certainly the low tax countries needs a great deal of planning, but countries taxed similarly to Australia does not have the same issues. I'm in that exact situation as you describe. I'm away for over 200 days a year but the family lives in our Australian home and I return monthly. I don't even try to justify non-residency as it'd make no difference to me anyway, tax wise.
