This morning will be interesting. Rain or drizzle has pretty much stopped now. Outfield will be damp so the ball will get wet and it will be slippery. On the other had there is high humidity meaning the ball will swing if the Indians are seam bowlers. Good tussle.

Had to laugh at the headlines. “Heavy rain”. Ah no, been raining for some time but no more than a mm or two.

Late tea about 4.30pm

India 2nd. 2/86 much more disciplined batting

Not sure how long the final session Day 3 will be. I’m expecting at least 2 hours.

Definitely a bigger crowd in today

Always going to be a bigger crowd today so shame about the rain. Probably early start tomorrow maybe. Indians have done well with their appeals too.

Game almost out of reach. We should try to keep India batting as long as possible and we may have a chance at draw.

This is what our batting line-up lacks at present. Our bowlers have actually been pretty good, Lyon in particular, but with really nothing to show and that has come from these 2 batsmen using their brain and being very resolute in their decision making.

Problem with that strategy is the amount of work the bowlers will need to do.

And pretty much straight after my post Lyon gets Kholi - seriously Lyon has nearly become our most consistent dangerous bowler - nearly every over today you've felt something could happen as he's been drawing false shots.

Lyon had almost no luck today. Perhaps a little when he was batting.

Still the best part of 200 overs left if it doesn't rain any more. India can comfortably afford to bat until tea or a little bit later if they're capable.

Bowlers have been very good. India got away a little but bowlers have brought it back.

Interesting stat with Adelaide oval in past 100 years we have chased 200+ rins 14 times with 6 losses and 8 draws. Lead already 166.

And yeas got over 30,000 in.... see photo42F25FB0-F82F-4FD4-864B-D4376E8C03CB.jpeg 87C5EAF3-FF59-47AF-93DF-FE1AF2991F3E.jpeg

For the eagle eyed. You’ll spot the Emirates 777 arriving on a pearler of a dusk sky!

And yes, 10am early start on day 4 Sunday

It was a glorious sunset in Adelaide tonight
Agree. We have uninterrupted views to the city and sea to the west and to the hills in the east( we have a very high second storey which has views spanning Adelaide - hadn’t realised this until the sales agent pointed it out to me the other week o_O) and the sky was brilliant pink from sea to hills.

From son’s FB page last night.

MrP off now to gym then to the Australian Cricketers Association Function at the Test. Rather nice location in a function room at the North Eastern grandstand overlooking Cathedral and Oval. Planning on catching up with lots of former SA players and enjoying a fully catered day watching some potentially fascinating cricket. David Hookes is always sorely missed at such occasions.

Still a beautifully balanced test as of the start of Day 4... Australia not completely stuffed yet.

Decent efforts in two of their three tests since South Africa.

No Lyon to start? Silly captaincy IMO.
