Australia Singapore Travel Bubble by July

To be fair, the NZ bubble requires the NZ government to come to the party with not requiring travellers from Australia to quarantine.

But to the rest of your point, a bubble with Singapore is entirely within the control of the Australian government. It could happen today if the government wanted it to - Singapore will already accept visitors (not just Singapore citizens and residents) who’ve been in Australia for 14 days prior without the need to quarantine.

If, for an example an Australian who normally lives in Europe, had returned to visit Australia for a month or two, they could do a stopover in Singapore (when returning to Europe) for a few days, provided they get a pass to enter SG, pay for test on arrival in SG and self isolate in a hotel for the 4-5 hrs it takes to get the test back.

A bubble between Singapore and Australia is going to require attitude changes in the Australian states. Unlike New Zealand, Singapore isn't following an elimination strategy.

I really don't know what the plan is to open up, as it is going to require an element of risk that people don't seem too keen on accepting.

Australians can enter Singapore with a Covid test on arrival. We arrive ~ 2100 and staying at CP Changi the first 2 nights. So that is no problem.
There are 3 possible problems and basically all with Australia.
First will we be allowed out.
Second HQ coming back.
Third need travel insurance that will cover Covid.

So we are hoping for the bubble.Singapore seems to want it.Australia probably less so.

On the third problem, there might need to be two-tier covid travel insurance (vaccinated and unvaccinated).

So half way there to a two way bubble lol.

No bubble any more.

Singapore now heading into pseudo lockdown. '

Government here are not as good as they make out, have a huge blindspot regarding testing. The biggest problem being you have a doctor for a referral for a COVID test, and some doctors don't even refer on sympomatic patients and off it goes. They are also very slow in locking things down, if Australia learnt anything about what happened in Victoria it is too act swiftly.

Give me a five day hard lockdown any time!

But telling quoted comment (jibe) from the Singapore PM in this article suggesting that it will be a political decision (and given that SG allows most people coming from Australia to arrive without HQ , and went through an “election” in 2020, I am guessing he’s not referring to SG political decision).

What we want to do is to get the preconditions infrastructure ready, the vaccine recognition, what are the standards, what are the conditions. Then the actual decision to do it, that is a political decision. But let's get everything teed up, so that we are in the position to make the political decision when we want to do so,” he added.

Well this thread (like many others) has not aged well. I think kamchatsky when starting the thread forgot to put the year - 2022 - when starting the thread.

Never say never.
There is about to be the Singapore- Germany travel bubble for vaccinated travelers.

Currently 30,000 active cases there (97% Delta)
3,500 new cases per day
400 in ICU
58% population fully vaccinated.

Australia in comparison is pumping out some rookie numbers so far 😜

Somehow I don't think the Singapore government's willingness to instigate a travel bubble for vaccinated travelers is the problem for an Australia/Singapore bubble. 😉

My good friend who lives in Singapore uses QR (with embedded which vax status) and bingo - entry to venue! Of course compliance here in Oz may not becas easy… lucky for said friend he hates chewing gum so manages well🤣
