In fairness to AmEx, there are still a number of benefits you can take advantage of as a valued Platinum cardholder including access to the AmEx lounge in Sydney, third party lounges across Australi... oh wait that's all been cancelled haven't they? As a valued AmEx Platinum cardholder you can enjoy the benefit from the smugness of slamming your metallic platinum card down while you pay for dinner in Sydne- oh wait a sec that doesn't apply either. Well, at least you can use your card in many retailers still accept AmEx accepting the large surcharge for the privilege of using it. 😛

Was working for me until just now. Has anyone received updated communication from AMEX regarding next steps to activate the benefits associated with The Australian subscription etc?
 
It worked for me this morning around 8AM AEST and now not working. I sucked it up and subscribed. Back to normal service.

mine is still working too. I asked our AM yesterday about what else they were doing to fill the gap of AFR benefit being removed - and was given the vague "we will be making more annnoucements in the next few months". Colour me sceptical on them coming through with anything meaningful here. Another round of the $400 Deliveroo/Supermarket credit would sure go a long way to making me a believer again...
 
Rang about 20 minutes ago and had a pleasant business-like transaction, just said my card was up for renewal and wanted to ask if there was any retention offer on my Charge card before I cancelled. They came back with 200k, which I accepted with mild glee.

I’ve heard 150k a couple of times, maybe your overseas spend is rare (and worth rewarding) in these COVID days?
 
Still no comms on the new The Australian benefit? I wonder if they've run into issues?
 
Called the Platinum line (Charge card) on a different matter, mentioned the AFR impact, consultant from the Philippines offered 30k as a compensation while waiting for the new benefit, not much but better than nothing.
 
Anyone have problems signing up? Keep getting an “Ooops, an error has occurred!”
