Anyone know what happened with EUR rewards seats, the value seems like it's been obliterated

BNE-LHR on SQ is at 160k points plus almost $600 in fees - if you value pts at 1.5cpp this comes out to almost $3,000 😱

Is there another way to use velocity pts to get to europe? As I've got 255k sitting there and think I will head over in the next couple of months

If not - it seems like the only use for velocity pts now is domestic travel, plus maybe Bali?

Maybe don't look at what Emirates is charging for Qantas Point redemptions...

You could look at it this way. If you have 160K VFF points you could either use them to fly to London on SQ for an outlay of $600, or you could use them for something else.

if you want to go to London and pay only $600, that seems a reasonable deal to me.

I think the emphasis on maximising value can be misplaced. If you have the points and want to do or buy something, and there is no immediate competing use for the points, then use the points. It’s very likely more points will come along later.

Is this a business class flight?
I value points with a nominal value of 1 cent per point.
In your example I would compare to the cash cost of the same fare to derive an achieved point value.

For example you have 150000 points plus $600.
I'd do a dummy booking for the outbound flight as part of a return booking. Again I presume this is business. So say the BNE-LHR part of a BNE-LHR-BNE booking costs $6000 in business. Then the value you would acheive is (6000-600)/160000 = 3.37 cents per point.

That's how I'd value the points.

This is what I do as a guideline as well. Also, how one person uses points different to others.

So, if a person use points for domestic or economy flights then the value will be different to someone has to travel during peak/school holidays and points towards premium seats as well and those seats tend to way over the budget for many then they would consider $600 in tax is extremely low vs straight cash for business/1st flight tickets
