ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

@georgie23 , I paid BAS yesterday without issue.
BTW, the ATO site is down for maintenance over the weekend.

@Yak Pay | Payment Logic , when paying separate ATO obligations, i.e. a super fund payment, is it necessary to register a separate payee and if so how do I determine the ATO ABN to be used?
Only your reference number will be different for ATO. Rest is the same

Hi @prozac,

Fortunately that user’s issue earlier wasn’t related to our platform.

Regarding ATO payments, you have a few options here. The easiest is to simply use our prebuilt ATO payment flow, whereby you only need to change the reference number and amount for each payment. To do this, simply click Create Payment - Pay ATO and enter in your amount and reference number. Then repeat this process for each bill.

Alternatively, you could create a unique ATO payee for each individual tax obligation. The ABN required to add the ATO as a payee is 51824753556. To add each one, go to My Payees - Add Payee - Manual and proceed to add the different ATO payees one by one (I’d suggest slightly differentiating the names of each one so that they’re easily identifiable).

If you need a further hand with this at all just let me know.

Kind Regards,
James

Thanks James. I "discovered" the Pay ATO option this afternoon and was waiting for you to confirm. I received a penalty notice once when funds intended for one ATO account ended up in another account. Not via Yak Pay BTW. It took time to track it down and a sympathetic ATO rep to reverse the penalty. I have been cautious ever since. :)

It was an issue at my end - I was using a credit instead of charge card and Amex had issue with soft limit of card - all resolved - thank you

Managed to make a modest payment on the ATO site earlier this morning - may be the luck of the draw.

I will DM you, but it's been a while since i've used this particular method so it may no longer be available. If anyone does have working methods, suggest not to post publicly lest they be ozbargained and tiktoked
Would appreciate a DM too if possible.

Just got my latest tax bill, hadn't even realised Beem had turned off credit card! Scrambling to read the last 50 odd pages to see what's the best equivalent ...

EDIT: just read the update. Back to the books I go ...

Yes I tried it again for fun last week but got the statement and no points awarded. :(

It was 6 months ago as I have been using Sniip as it cheaper, but I leaned with B2Bpay they seem to hang on to the funds for 3 days before onforwarding. I allow up to 10 days for them, as I do with Sniip.
Just to note, it is three "business" days - so don't pay over a long weekend ...

If you go direct then you will get zero or half points in terms of reward points.
Assuming you've bought the prepaid cards from Woolworths or Coles at a discount and earned points on the purchase there and then.

I run a small business that has a rather large monthly activity statement to pay. I have never really looked at paying via credit card but now that have a spent a lot of my points and I want to top them.

Am I right in that paying via ViSA the best/cheapest option is pay.com.au?
