ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Check Ozbargain, but please be aware a large amount of these cards are hacked
As I understand it, they can only be hacked once activated, so if one is intending on buyig them, then they should be used ASAP. I always try and use them within 24 hours.

Thanks for sharing the online availability. I had t thought about that. Was there a specific link/page where we find them? Potentially silly question I know …
I think I last noticed it on a banner ad on the coles website itself, which linked off to giftcards.com.au. Can't see the same promotion available atm.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Might be worth looking at pay.com.au they do a range of cards and their trial tier is their subscription pricing 1.9% +gst with volume discounts as outlined on their site.

Might be worth checking out the service for a month and accessing the less expensive rates and making your mind about whether the subscription fee is worth it to you going forward. I have no affiliation with them. Just passing on my feedback as a long term customer.

Anything stopping me from paying the ATO before I do my return and just collecting that back once it's done? Struggling to meet minimum spend and I'm happy to cop the 2% at this point

Yes, the ATO are always keen to take your money, whether you need to pay them or not

I guess the risk is that the ATO might eventually tire of refunding our accidental over-payments especially if an over-zealous employee is in charge of approving them. Just saying ...

Have mentioned this in another post but last time I overpaid BAS they sent a text saying they would refund to card. Ended up transferring to Income Tax account as it was due.
Can't see how they could do that to a processor. Could be a big problem if using giftcards (as I was)

ATO have always refunded into bank account for me previously

Lucky you! I’ve spent the last 2.5 months trying get a $2k overpayment refunded to my bank account. Seems an incredible level of incompetence. I won’t be overpaying again simply because of this inconvenience.

They take it all plus give you interest if there is a debt due and you pay more than a month out
I never bother clawing back overpayments as they can offset (inevitable) future debts…

If you go to myGov ATO advises all outstanding debts are paid before any refund (if due) is given.
So they remit there first

Just did an experiment with Activ visa GC which I bought at Officeworks. Didn’t work on ATO site.
My one didn’t appear to be for a specific type of merchant. I know they issue some specific types but didn’t think they actually blocked other merchants. I got it to work for my strata levies but just a little worried they might shut that down too and I can’t use them.

Anyone else have experience with these GCs?

Not sure if this has been answered elsewhere, but has anyone found a good alternative to Beem for Bpay via CC? I used to drip feed my tax and other payments through here and it worked well before they turned off the CC payment feature.

I will DM you, but it's been a while since i've used this particular method so it may no longer be available. If anyone does have working methods, suggest not to post publicly lest they be ozbargained and tiktoked
