The cashier at my Coles said it's max 5 per person per day. So I don't think multiple flybuys accounts would work if it's the same employee behind the counter unless you're going to different stores.

Remember to scan your flybuys card. She told me other people didn't scan theirs today.

I gave up on the gift cards as my BAS is now touching 70k.... Not worth the time spent.. just sniip it
G'day daft - yeh, wow - that's just way too time consuming isn't it! I assume sniip will recognise it as business payment unfortunately :(

It's per account per day. We have three accounts at our house, I used two of them today and bought 5 cards for each. However, sometimes it's easier to not argue with the cashier and just go and purchase from a different one (assuming you have more than 1 account of course).

Does Coles limit how many you can claim points with?

yep. :( still no cheaper way to fly J/F though.
helps thtat most of my other amex transactions are surcharge free so the surcharge is effectively spread over the billing cycle

yes - actually, when I was just doing the figures, it actually works out as a reasonable purchase of points to pay on sniip - given that you also are holding on to cash for another eg, 4 or 5 weeks which could be earning eg, 4% in the bank - so it still works out around 1 c/point as a business expense, which is good

I'm not sure about the points but Coles limit the 10% discount on this offer to 5 cards per account per day. I assume it earns the usual 1 point per dollar spent. I don't buy these specific cards when the flybuys bonus points promotion is on, I'm only interested in the 10% discount promotion.

If you have 4 Flybuys accounts and have a partner going to Coles with you, it's not too bad. 2 diff Coles a day..$5k x7 days / $35k. Saving more than $2.5k.
I think it's YMMV - I wouldn't see a 3% saving as worthwhile for that level of effort when I can use Sniip at, in effect, 1c/point purchase price but discussion has still been a very helpful one for me at least to be clear on what's involved.

This deal is about 7.5% discount after fees, what do you mean 3% saving? Using Plat Edge is also 3ppd (1.5 KF)

I was using your reference to $2.5k/$70k payment - circa 3.5%. Am I mistaken, as in a cash sense, as I am new to this gift card thing, don't you purchase a $100 card for around $95 (including activation fee), so it's actually closer to 5%, which is actually circa $3.5K cash in this instance?

Plat Edge certainly makes it more attractive than using my Plat card - strange as that is given the different annual fees (!), as 1.5KF is a great earn rate.

If you're factoring in points earn on ATO spend, then yes, the saving is higher than 5%.

I'm just not convinced that I could manage to go to Coles twice per day with my partner to make it happen, but if you can do so, enjoy the extra points and savings :)

It's not just buying them.
It's then sitting and typing in the cc numbers. I did write a macro when I used to do this with the only1 brand of visa cards.

Started getting evil looks from the woollies staff back in the day trying to buy some everyday at lunchtime...

The opportunity cost is not worth the saving unfortunately in my circumstances.

You will be lucky to find one 250$ gift cards any day at coles, let alone 20... 7 days in a row...

This is not correct at all. They are there, often inside the gift card cabinet. I have never had a problem buying many of these, including close to 200x$250 cards on one promotion last year.

A $250 card is able to be purchased for $231.30 which is a 7.48% saving. Plus another 0.5% for the flybuys points earned. Minus the 0.2% fee on the ATO website.

Loll I wondered if using the cards was an extra time cost as well

Dumb question, but how do I pay on the ATO website? I have never done this before
