ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Is it still worth using the Black Mastercard after fees or does using Bpay negate the fee? If I sound dim, it's b/c I am when it comes to Bpay using a card...never done this before so sorry if I need it spelt out.
It still is. But remember; Westpac does NOT give points on Bpay... Go to ATO website and pay direct on that.

Hi All,

Just a quick one, does anyone have the "NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card" and how does it go with the ATO?

Otherwise its time to get one of the Westpac Black's

Thanks
Fuzz

NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card works with ATO but some conditions. Westpac Black MC is 0.625 points per $, Westpac Black Amex is 1.5 points per $ so better if choosing, but if you already have the NAB card you have to crunch the extra cost of the additional card v the exta 0.125 points per $

NAB: Visa
0.5 point per $1 spent on eligible purchases
NAB: Points are capped at $100,000 spend per statement period.

NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card - NAB

Hope this helps

I was a bit quick in my email,

I have several direct AMEX cards and used to put a lot through prior to the changes for points on ATO etc, I would likely hit the 100k points each month but its much better than what I am getting now direct but would split the spend between direct/non direct based on what it is.

I bank with the NAB, have the old Plat VISA but think the dual card would work well to give me some extra points on existing spend, and an extra 10k points from VISA too.

Thanks all (I will still look at Westpac, as I may move my banking to them after being with NAB for 16 years)

I have a tax bill coming up that I would like to put on my ANZ Rewards card. It's mentioned earlier in the thread that the spend on ATO still nets points for ANZ but can anyone confirm before I put the payment through?

Thanks!

I would imagine there would be some discussion if things have changed. It would be good if you try it and let us know :)

If you are talking about the ANZ Business One card I used it to pay ATO in Oct/Nov and got 1 point per $1

Not sure if "ANZ Rewards card" is a specific type of ANZ card, of it you just mean ANZ cards in general? Anyway, I put ATO through my ANZ Platinum Qantas card every month (that's all that goes through it!) and it earns just fine.

It is fast approaching that time again and there are many quarterlies sitting on my home office desk plus the monthly BAS.
It feels like a vacuum cleaner running hard in my pocket and I started paying on 14th even though the first one is not due until 21st February.
Naturally I hope the ATO don't complain about getting paid early.

Yes, me too, been paying it via ANZ card since day one.

Qantas points are really good for domestic business class flights but are hard to use internationally for pointy end travelling.

Not necessarily though I would agree that award seats that require a left turn or upstairs are more difficult to get.
For travel mid Dec 2014 and return mid Jan2015, I managed to snap up:

3P (first class award) SYD-LAX on QF11 A380
1P LAX-SYD on QF12 A380
2P LAX-MEL on QF94 A380
So I have to buy 2 MEL-SYD to connect back to SYD.
Pretty good and only SG status.

I've found them ok too booked SYD LAX in July for 2 in first on QF11 for the grand total of $922 in taxes :)

Sorry if this has been answered in the previous 278 pages but had trouble finding a more recent answer regarding using CBA Plat Amex to pay BAS via the ATO website.
Does this still get award points (and thus QFF points)? Is this treated as a cash advance or is it treated like any other CC payment. thanks in advance

I use the CBA Diamond Amex on the ATO site & it's just treated as a normal charge not a cash advance & it earns points as normal if that helps

Interesting data point

Every time I scan (in advance of course), the max I can see is two Ps.

But you managed three !

Just finished all of the ATO bills today so I am quite a bit poorer.
I left several cards pretty loaded up seeing there are quite a few free days to run which is nice.

I never have to worry about having to set a reminder for my Quarterly BAS obligations, I just subscribe to this thread and read Cove's posts when the appear ... :p
