Hi Big Kev

I hope I did it correctly as I am new to the FF community. I rang up STA travel, RTW agent. He is not aware of any RTW business class around $4.5k. The lowest would be around $7K including taxes. I am wondering how you can come about such a low quotation for RTW business class early bird special.

Hi menzius

The 4.5K is a MIXED class RTW ticket with swiss air. the outbound&inbound flight are economics class ticket on Qantas. then the rest of the flights are on swiss air in business class. the 7k swiss air RTW are all business (including both qantas flights).

Hi phil

Yeap you are right, I don't work for myself. I actually work for all of you (tax payers)! It is understandable for Qantas to try & sell the ticket before letting a upgrade. It is totally fine, I just don't like it (personal option, nothing more). When I upgrade with Eva airline, they always call me back within 24 hours to confirm the upgrade and i had yet to encounter unsuccessful upgrade with them before! I had always chose Qantas over other airline (besides Eva & China Airline, as they are the only direct flight between Brisbane and Taipei). Like you mention, I had never had issue with Qantas service, the level of service and training are very high ;)(domestic and international).

However, on the RTW busniess class ticket topic. I think the Swiss air price is too good to refuse as a difference of 4k on a single ticket goes a long way on the actual RTW trip, as flying is only a part of the trip. Not to mention you do get to travel on Qantas international business on two of the flights!:D

BTW thank you guys for sharing so much information on this topic! Hopefully it will help not only me, but other people in their decision making process on RTW ticking! keep up the good work.

Kind regards

Big Kev

Just out of interest what is the luggage allowance on the Swiss mixed fare?

Do they allow the J class luggage allowance on all flights on the ticket, or do as I suspect and allow Y class baggage allowance on those Y class flights?

Hi there

I am not sure about the luggage on this SiwssAir mix class ticket. However, my Qantas experiences are as long as the flights are book though a single reference/ticket, the highest luggage allowance will apply to all flight segment. (ie. business class mix with eco class ticket, the luggage allowance will be Business throughout the flights)

But check with the airline or travel agent before you travel is always a good idea.

Kind regards

Big Kev
