iPad 2 is not that far away from the shops (Mar 25 release in Aust) - and presumably at the same pricing points as the iPAD was.

I think you are on the money there, they certainly are good value now with 3G!

Same pricing for iPad 2 was reported on the TV this morning.

New or old?

16GB non-3G version at $449 seems like a steal, then claim back the GST when departing Australia and it brings it down to $408.18.

I have a 32GB 3G version, and as much as having the 3G beneficial ... living without it wouldn't be an issue either with wi-fi literally everywhere now.

I'm probably a bit of a luddite but I've lived without an iPad or iPhone till now,and I'm afraid that till they drop in price to something that more equates to my current cell phone (ie sub $300) then I'm not interested.
But I'm sure that many people wonder how they ever did without them, and fair enough too, just not for me,well not yet ,at least.

Can you use iphone internet tettering via BT with an ipad?

Saw the price drops, in line with the ones in the US. But pretty sure I'll wait till the 25th for the second gen.

No. However with iOS 4.3 you will be able to use the iPhone as a wireless access point thus removing the need for a 3G iPad. I am considering this for my iPad 2 purchase...

It's an interesting thing that no competitor has yet been able to offer anything of the same size and features at a lower cost. Unusual given people seem to think Apple products are overpriced.

I keep saying to myself that the IPad2 offers no significant enhancements (As in proper enhancements not Qantas ones) over my current 64GB 3G IPad..........however I suspect I'll be buying one!! :-| )I think I need therapy.

As a late convert to the iPhone (Aug-09).....although I love it now.... Even did my DONE4 with just the iPhone and left the laptop at home :)

I must admit, with an iPhone and a laptop..... Why would i want an iPad???

I mean of course I'd like one, just like I'd like a Ferrari....but seriously, isn't it just an iPhone with a big screen??

Come on you early adopters.... Sell me on it ;)

I guess that I will never know what I am missing if I never have an iPad....

Why is this a shock? Apple are well known for doing price drops before they introduce a new version of product.

Big W are doing $200 off every iPad model this weekend....this makes the entry level 16Gb model only $398!

Combine this with a trip through customs within the next 30 days...that is one cheap iPad!

It's not $200 off the price as apple has just this week dropped the price on all iPads. So that $398 works out at $51 off the RRP. Still it is very good.
