They always offer to waive the next years annual fee for wanting to cancel...

That makes more sense, good question, I would like to know if that's possible too. My platinum will definitely go, but I would like to keep the Black.

Out of interest , I see many posters seem to hold numerous credit cards .

Do the CC companies have any way of determining if you hold multiple cards eg say if you held 3 Amex cards in your name - would that flag something in their system?

I believe that potential creditors likely pull credit checks before approving your cards, so it depends what information each creditor places in your credit file when opening an account.

Some credit cards will maintain posts in Veda (and probably D&B) credit check 'consumer credit liability information' sections, and do so until the account is closed plus 24 months (I believe). The ANZ (basic) card did not do this for me. I would be interested to know what are the unspoken criteria for listing a liability in this section.

Of course, any credit application (credit cards, home loans, even telephone accounts) will likely list a post under the 'consumer credit file enquiries' section of your credit file, which i believe disappear after 60 months. These have a 'reason for enquiry' section, on mine, they mainly say credit card of course! And my guess is having one of these every month or two is probably not a bonus when wanting to have credit approved.

I read earlier on in this thread that it does.
About 20 to 40 pages back lol
Just check with ANZ today and read their definition on bPay. Not all BPay transactions are treated as purchase. Only those BPay Billers who accept credit cards, then ANZ will treat bpay transactions as purchase. For other BPay Billers, ANZ will treat bpay transactions as Cash Advance, hence these transactions won't counted toward $1500.

ANZ site suggests to check whether a BPay Billers can accept credit card or not, by visiting BPay site and search for Billers code. It will say whether or not the BPay Biller accepts credit card or not. My Telstra BPay Biller code and council rate does not :( but my NRMA insurance does :)

Sorry if this is a silly question but, if the Biller already accepts credit card what is the advantage of using Bpay instead of just using the credit card to pay directly? Wouldn't you still get the same points ratio?

Main advantage is you can future date a BPay.

This is certainly a good thread.

Can anyone indicate if they have received the full 50,000 bonus by now and how long did they wait from when they made the $1500 in purchases?

Plenty of people have already received the 50k bonus points if you read upthread.

My bonus was received just after my second monthly statement arrived.
I spent $1500 within days of receiving the card.

Haven't received mine yet (black card)
Anyone with the black received theirs?

I have the black card but only recently paid the first statement, so not expecting them for another month or so.

A friend sent me this today.....good explanation on the changes to QF point earning.

Note the timing difference for Existing v New card holders!

Interesting to see that those that apply before 24 Sep will not be capped until next year.

I wonder how high the cap will be set?

My HSBC Visa is capped at 500,000 pa.

For plat it's $6k per card (Amex/Visa) per month = $144k ... the base card is set at half that.
