Anyone planning to travel in 2021 ?

I've just booked 6 * J SQ award to China for Easter next year. This trip was to escort my parent-in-law who are quite old back to China. They are staying with us now.

I will book my return trip later in April once the award space opens up.

The good thing is that due to Covid there are plenty of awards available. I am still amazed that I can book 6 * J award seats all at the same time. At worst I will just cancel it and get my points back, even though I am aware of point expiry.

The minute the bans are lifted I will be booking solo trip to Turkey.

Then either Sulawesi or Fiji early 2021 or October if bans are lifted.

We have a cruise to PNG booked Oct 2021. I hope that is going ahead. I may bring it forward to the Jan 2021 sailing if the ships are going then. The bloody CV19 seems to have spared the Pacific Islands. I am nervous about the financial state of the cruise industry. We have been on ships where half the passengers had Norovirus but somehow we never pick up bugs. I don't know what it is, maybe years of backpacking in developing parts of teh world has hardened my immune system. I just don't get sick. I do get jet lag on the return though.

I'll be the first banging down the door of my GP if there is any jab available that would let me be free from the lock down and travel overseas!

I have never in my life been afraid to get on a plane and go overseas, and if planes are flying and it's legal to go, I am going!

We hope to re-run the cancelled Mar/Apr trip to the UK that we had to cancel. Granddaughter (in London) has a birthday mid-March, and then we stay on for some adventures around Easter. But in recognition of uncertainty, we are happy to just push it back a few months if necessary. But hope that we can be back with the absent part of our family by June 2021 at the latest.

Was lookong forward to Southern India in September. We were lucky to get a month of skiing in, in Switzerland in January. Oh well, guess that India can wait. Have lots of cancelled QF flights with credits. Plenty of J domestic flights for me once we can travel domestically again.

I have an incredibly expensive Antarctica trip booked for January 2021 ..... booked many months ago. Fingers crossed!
Yes, so do I, and I booked with Ponant March last year. I don't have flights yet. I'm thinking it may be better to cancel and rebook another Ponant cruise - the Kimberley? - for August 2021. I can't reschedule the Antarctic trip in 2022 because there is only one sailing (Falklands, South Georgia, Antarctica) and my cabin category is already sold out.

I am not sure if a similar thread has been posted, but i am hoping to visit Russia and Scandinavia in late May 2021.
However i do realise that there are many uncertainties and variables which are out of our control (ie. Lifting of travel restrictions, borders re opening, planes starting to fly again etc)
So i won't be booking any award tickets and hotels soon.

I suppose, another thing to watch out for , is whether travel insurance will cover any virus related expenses.

I am just curious if anyone here is planning to travel overseas or domestically next year ?
I read an article which said that cruise companies and some tour operators have already had many bookings !
Yep, we still have 'tentative' cruise and flights into Europe in Sep/Oct 2020, accepting that it may have to be cancelled or altered drastically. Also still holding cruise booking Dubai-Rome in May 2021 and will go ahead and book trip and flights around that when/if those areas open up. Failing that we will pack up and camp through northern Australia at earliest cool weather opportunities. Maintaining a positive position and hoping for the best.

We have an Antarctica cruise booked for February 2021 and I'm hopeful but not very confident that we'll be able to go. Final payment is due in October so if things aren't looking good by September I'll move the booking to 2022. I won't rush to buy air tickets with this uncertainty and if it looks like we'll be able to go hopefully there will be some sale air fares later in the year.

We also had a French Polynesia cruise booked for August but have moved it to the same cruise in August 2021. We have SYD-PPT J flights booked with QFF points but I'll wait until flights for those dates are cancelled to cancel and hopefully not lose the 6000 points cancellation fee.

I have transferred the deposit for a 5 Stans trip from Aug 20 to October 21.
At this point I have only paid the deposit and hope that by next year 1) borders are open and 2) I can book and afford airfares to get to and from my tour.

We are joining family and friends in African to celebrate a 60th in September 21. Hoping to finally experience the Blue Train.

All the tours cancelled this year I have transferred to same time next year. Japan and the cherry blossoms in March, Wales and Scotland in May, and Manchester to Marrakech in September. If November’s European river cruise doesn’t go ahead, that’s another one. Plus at least one domestic to Melbourne to visit 90 year old mother. The first two trips have associated credit vouchers for rebooking flights, plus one leftover. I think most people on AFF will be flying again as there are lots of vouchers being stored.

Hoping to be there about 6-8 weeks behind you for the same reason minus the Blue Train at this stage.
