Anyone having problems with the NEW seat selection?

This is the message I'm getting for Singapore flights they changed two weeks ago. They must have a Commodore 64 processing the payment as the initial payment was completed about three months ago

A payment is in progress

Payment for a Seat Selection request has been submitted, but cannot be verified. You cannot change seats for the affected passengers. Please contact your issuing agent, or the Qantas call centre if you made this seat request online.

Tried 3 separate browsers and having similar issues, unable to change seats. We have been given an upgrade (points), seat selection says 'window' as per our preference, but selecting 'change seats' to choose a new seat, it times out.
Can't do online checkin as the flights on our previous leg were changed by Qantas. Hopefully when we get to the airport it will be sorted.

Just on an other note with this new seat selection, I noticed that standard seat selection is free (actually $ 0.00), so in the case of corporate bookings if you go in and do a standard seat selection QF then emails an invoice of $0.00 to your travel arranger, how annoying is that going to be for all the people who do take care of corporate bookings!

Thanks to everyone for the advice. It certainly is not intuitive.

I certainly preferred the old system. One other nice feature that had is it would provide a summary at the end of the process of all your flights with the numbers, dates, times and seats chosen in a small table which I could take a snapshot of and email/print/save as a quick reference. Very handy for multi-leg journeys. Now it's all white space.

No matter what i do i can not get seat selection to stick for a J flight from New York to Sydney

The rest of the itinerary is fine but not that leg

I can’t select seats QF95 MEL-LAX in Y+ (14 Sep) . I ended up calling and it worked in my favour, allocated the bulkhead which I’m sure would have normally been blocked for me as SG.

I had my first experience of the new tool today. An EF alert came through that row 1 had opened up on QF10 LHR-MEL (sector 15 of my 16-sector DONE5) in just over two weeks.

As WP, I had pre-selected 3A as the best available at time booking.

Jump on and I could drill down immediately to that particular flight and snare 1K (looks like a WP1 or a CL had already snared my preferred 1A). It was better than having to start up the list in a DONEx and keep skipping until the desired flight was reached.

So, assuming that my selection sticks, it worked well for me.

I see the numpties IT work experience kids are still hard at work to try to drag the QF seat selection process down to the same level as VA.

Nondescript error messages, multiple logins and one-way trapdoors to nowhere abound.... and yes the 'Start Again' icon does not work.

Just took about 20mins to do a simple multiple domestic leg seat selection that really should have taken 5 mins.

I just love how the sites OLCI thinks you want to print the first flight of the day boarding pass and then have to specifically ask it to print or sms the second flight of the day - shouldn't that be a given? Do they think we don't want to board the next flight?

They really have managed to make it less intuitive than it was before, and an added bonus is each time the seat selection errors out you get to log back in and reselect another seat, and yet another email goes to your corporate travel arranger - thus spamming up their email inbox with irrelevant and unnecessary emails, how handy is that?

Just checked in for the 10 and I’m in 3A. I’m guessing that my change to 1K didn’t stick.

A couple of days ago I helped out my brother - he was flying LAX-BNE with his partner and their baby - no matter what he tried he could not get two seats together to "stick". I tried online also and no go.....

I called the Plat One line, got (as usual) an excellent staff member, and she manually put them together, assuring me all was good. I felt great helping out my brother :)

But 24 hours later when he got to LAX he discovered the seating had not stuck - sorted eventually on board, but it appears even QF P1 staff cannot get certain simple seat selections to stick.

How do you take something that was a bit cough and make it totally abysmal?

"Generic error" messages each time i tried to seat select at T-80 this morning. Looks like more wasted time waiting for the call centre to sort it out.

I dont get it, they had a perfectly functional seat selection system, then they waste money (while cutting costs everywhere else) implementing this bug ridden system. Epic fail QF.

I had to deal with this a few months ago for only one of my many bookings. It was so confusing and had to work with esp. with 6 pax on one booking.

Another example of 2 steps backwards by QF IT.

Is anyone else still finding seat selection still completely broken / is there any workaround ?

Trying to select seats for some international flights i've just booked - goes all the way through, says it is going to invoice me $0 but then the selections don't stick (and the $0 invoice doesn't arrive either).............. Tried multiple times from chrome, ie, edge and mozilla and also from safari on iphone !

thanks

I just had the old seat selection engine appear for an upcoming booking. Pure bliss. Seat selection for 2 pax on 2 flights done in 10 seconds. Appeared in expertflyer when I checked 2 minutes later.

Has common sense prevailed? Or was I just a (lucky, happy) victim of the old QF inconsistency?

QF12 doesn't like seats selections either
Hoping my third attempt by Qantas will now stick
Of course the issue is change of plane at LAX I know but three times Qantas has assured me I have the seats I want.
It does look promising the third attempt today has worked.
At seat alerts looks like I have lol

Just went through half an hour trying to change seats on an upcoming MEL-PER QF9 J booking. Initially, as is very frequent these days, the entire MMB part of the QF website didn't work. But eventually got in and on third attempt it actually let me change seats. Now 1A on my first ever QF 787 flight - woohoo!! :)

But after such pain with the QF website, I then went into LATAM to checkin for a flight tomorrow - went ok, in LATAM's clunky round-about way they organize their website flows, but then I got the email of the boarding pass - actually, I got two separate emails a second apart. The content was all good, but each email had the title: " =?utf-8?B?amV0YSBkZ$BFbW$hcnF1$$$kZSBKVU$IFZBTiBE$U4gQlJFTvtrIDI1IGYUNNHNlcHRpZW1i cmUgYUnaVUCBMYSBTZXYulbmyrSBTYW50afrb778ZSBDaGlsZTHyunAxNTM= ?= "

WTF? Maybe Qantas is not the only airline with IT challenges....
