Anyone had luck booking 90K J Savers to Europe next summer?

12th July 2025. Sorry, should have made that clear ..
Hi Duffa, Do you have any tips on how you found 108k saver (peak) awards for the golf on 12 July? I’m trying to line something up for next year and would need 2 savers home from Europe to Aus in July around the same time as you snagged yours. (Brexit but when you’re talking the distance to Australia, Dublin is near enough!)

I know yours was Mel-Dublin and I’d be going the other way into Aus. Did you manage to find return leg home okay at 108k and was it later in July? You’re one of the only people (that I’ve found posting online) who seem to have found this rare peak J Saver availability to that part of the world in July with QR Avios.

I booked them a year out (minus the 35 days or whatever it is) - so mid August last year. It was just sheer luck really as I didn't know the 20% thing existed until that point.
I haven't been able to work out any pattern for QR awards yet

Thanks. I’ll be watching like a hawk. Too bad seats.aero is Velocity (& other partners) and doesn’t show availability when it first opens, much earlier, on QRPC.

Sorry, I edited my comment as you were replying - Did you go okay with finding award seats home on QR (what I’d be searching for at that time) and was that later in July?

I just checked 360 days ahead for my favourite routes; MEL/LHR/MEL and MEL/DUB/MEL and there was heaps of J availability. You have to book as soon as the T360 window opens up or wait until much closer to your departure date and hope. 🙏

There's always plenty of "off peak" availability for April but the issue is the (northern) Summer. For the past two years, Qatar has made (almost) no off peak awards available betweeen about June and September. Of course, that doesn't mean QR will do the same thing for 2026, and there's always "Flex" availability for double the points (but still a reasonable deal if you compare with Velocity, Qantas FF etc).

But it wouldn't be a surprise if there's no/minimal off peak availability for June/July 2026.

@dsotm You're right, though: booking 360 days ahead is most definitely the way to go if at all possible.

I had success booking J MEL-DOH-BUD, MXP-DOH-SYD at 360 days. These are for Jan / Feb 2026.

Something very weird is happening with QR J class award bookings. I was trying to book a flight from ADL-EDI for early May 2026, for a cruise booked to leave on 10 May. The preferred date to leave Adelaide was 3 May, so I was monitoring availability as awards are released 360days out during the previous week. Availability for the complete itinerary was fine up to 30 Apr 2026, but from then on no awards for the complete itinerary seem to be released at the 360 day mark. Awards for ADL-DOH have been released daily and DOH-EDI was also released daily, but awards for the combined itinerary were not released after 30 April. I tried similar booking for SIN-DOH-EDI and no problems with this, so maybe some sort of married logic has been entered since 1 May 2026 for Australia flights requiring 2 flights???

Initially I thought it may be something to do with leading into the European summer peak period, but then this morning when logging in the security forced a password change. So I followed the procedure to enter a new password, and strangely the system would not accept a password of more than 8 characters. This is strange as previously it had always acccepted complex passwords of more than 16 characters, I usually use a password generator that creates 16-24 character passwords, so provide better security for all my airline logins, but for some reason Qatar are now preventing longer passwords.

Also something similar was mentioned for early May award bookings in the following post in 2022 but no outcome was recorded: Can anyone explain this?

Theory is a buggy software update is messing with the password process and also with combined award flights. Do any of the award booking experts have any other data points for QR award bookings combining 2 flights?
