Card Promotions Annual Fee refund

I disagree.

The cat is already well and truly out of the bag. Literally every post on OzBargain, which has an audience orders of magnitude larger than an AFF post, mentions it.

If it gets shut down, it gets shut down. That's the nature of this game — helpful hints are constantly being found and shut down.

And it's thanks to Ozbargain that we no longer have phone numbers that get through to helpful agents.

And we can't do anything about it. That's the nature of the Internet — for better or for worse, information flows freely. And the idea that AFF is the repository of all these tips and tricks known to no one else is laughable.

Indeed, many of those phone numbers posted on the Qantas call centre thread were stolen from other sources such as Facebook. And I first found out about the Citibank refund through OzBargain, not here.

St George refunded my annual fee (Amplify Signature) upon account closure even though my account was active/open for ~3 months. I had to ask for the fee to be refunded during closure process. Was surprised that they obliged. YMMV

This makes me feel very uneasy. Churning relies on following to the letter a bargain that is skewed enormously in our favour. Actively trying to get a refund on our side of the bargain seems dishonest. It also looks like the kind of thing that would draw attention to what we are doing when we should be aiming for as low a profile as possible.

Each to their own :)

What in Amex's current annual fee refund policy? Thinking of getting the Platinum card as only decent sign up bonus at the moment (for personal cards) but wouldn't need the card for the full year.

The Amex annual fee is already completely offset by the travel credit.

They don't provide pro rata refunds.

Lets be clear, it's not the bank paying. It's the poor fools they've conned into paying punitive interest rates by luring them to spend more than they have.
