...and now it is IHG Rewards

Where is the points earning rule change mentioned? It is very vague in the scheme rules.

I have a similar annotation on my account, although it says PLTG - 2014 rather than PLTE. I have queried what it means with IHGR.

I also have a couple of stays on my account which were elite qualifying when I booked and paid for them (21 day Apex IIRC), but have mutated to non-qualifying rates under the new rules as they were discounted. Do you have similar?

Does anyone know when they mentioned that what were qualifying rates are no longer such:shock:. Some bloody enhancement that is.

Cheers skip

If the stay is just the hotels Advance Purchase rate, it is specifically written into the rules as a earning rate.

Locally negotiated rates in APAC no longer qualifying is one significant change.

I'm currently in heated discussions with IHG about a denied claim in the UK. Really it is a joke that you can use a rate that is published on their website when you search for a rate and they claim it is ineligible. Total cough.

PS. If you submit a points issue online at the moment the delay for a response is around 3 weeks.

Agree its rubbish, they trot out that line so much, I have had many once off exceptions in the past which just grates further when you know your in the right, anyway its time for me to move brand preference with all the changes, will just burn points via pointbreaks to maintain status (must book that flight to Vanuatu this weekend).

Yep have had it before and always complain and get a one off credit. This time has just frustrated me so much I am thinking of ditching IHG... But not really sure what I will do.

I swear it wasn't there the other day, so the one off exceptions can continue LOL.

The problem is... You shouldn't need them. Like I said, I'm not happy at all ATM with the scheme and am seriously considering whether I want to leave.

Eligible Charges Worldwide include the following Qualifying Room Rates paid for hotel room nights: including the hotel’s Advanced Purchase Rate, Best Flexible Rate, worldwide sales negotiated rate, national/regional/local government rate and specified leisure rates as confirmed by IHG's HOLIDEX® Plus reservation systems.

Points will be awarded for Qualifying Room Rates booked through IHG central reservation offices, IHG web sites, travel agents or directly at the hotel. In addition, in North, South and Central America and the Caribbean, points may be collected on locally negotiated rates if these rates are discounted less than 30%.

At Asia Pacific hotels, Qualifying Room Rates also include all locally negotiated rates.

Eligible Charges Worldwide also include food and beverage, telephone, laundry, and in-room movies charged to the member's room.

Hotels may choose to award points for other charges at their discretion.

At U.S. and Canadian hotels (except InterContinental Alliance Resorts), you can collect points or miles on all Eligible Charges for multiple hotel rooms (less than 10) provided those rooms are used in conjunction with the member's stay at the same hotel, and that their IHG[SUP]®[/SUP] Rewards Club member number is recorded on each reservation, or the charges from those multiple room reservations are referred to on the hotel room bill associated with the member's reservation.
So why are claims qualifying by this being denied (or granted 'one off')?

So why are claims qualfying by this being denied?

Well in my case... The rate I used which was shown on the IHG portal as public rate was too discounted. It was prepaid but didn't match the exact wording required for a prepaid rate to be eligible. Call centre staff gave me the wrong t&c as to why they denied my claim. My case is ongoing.
Morons!

It's been an ongoing problem for years. Nothing new about this. Ive had best flexible rejected as deeply discounted before.
