Just got an invite to the event in Canberra. Plan on attending, so if anyone else is headed there (I know lowjhg is); love to catch up and say hello.
Do we want to meet 10 minutes before the event outside so we know who we are?

It was all about how good QFF is now treating P1 and how food the Aquire programme and how well the Aquire partners are pleased thus far and how good Golf is for QF customers too. Was their anything innovative or inspiring NO ZERO ZILCH NOTHING. Had 20 odd questions to ask but struggled to get answers to any BUT have agreed to email them to 3 members of the executive tem who have agreed to respond to them. It was more about trying to reassure customer that QF has turned the corner and things can only get better and how good QF is giving ALL those extra benefits to P1

Dear, oh dear. So just more hype and spin, eh? I guess they need to spell it out for people, because perhaps people can't draw their own similar conclusions?

A bit pathetic, actually. Like the loser who stands on a street corner, handing out booze or money or something and says 'aren't I good, please like me?'.

NEXT: Domestic IFE will feature recordings each of the events, played in constant cycle. No other IFE will be offered. Gotta get the good news out to everyone!

Put all the negativity aside for a moment. QF Loyalty didn't have to hold these functions!
I attended and thought the evening was ok. So it didn't tell us anything new, but it was a nice gesture to say thank-you for sticking with QF through the tough times. If what they are saying is true (QF have turned the corner), it is good news.

Ok, let me be positive. Lots of attendees seen to be merely points getters, maybe rarely fly Qantas. I've retained Plat again for next year. Am I expecting my thank you invite soon?

What about all the other flying plats not invited? I dont begrudge the attendees for the evening, but just face it for what it is. Marketing and spin.. "thank you" would be giving bonus points "for sticking with us".

Actually, it's funny you should mention bonus points. There may have been some attendees that did receive bonus points.
Unfortunately, it was not me

That will be nice :) It is likely i'll bump into Lesley 2 blocks from where i live too :p
Sounds good :). Mr FM and I will be there and I will hold an iPhone with a pink cover for identification (no roses in the garden) - it sounds as though meeting some of the denizens from here will be the best part of the evening!

QF actually gives plenty of bonus points for loyalty but the problem is using them come at a great cost after you add the taxes.

I have no regrets for not going, phewph

An old friend was in town so we went for dinner and I missed the evening. Sounds like that was a good outcome as I would have got nothing from it. They set the rules and don't really care much what we think anyway. Reality of QFF. Still it's not a bad program as far as these things go.

I just received an invite today to BNE - I don't think I have made even silver this year as my points earn has been credit to CX, whilst my 2.75 yo daughter and my wife actually SG (would have be WP if their year finished a month later!) because of our F travels this year. I earned 440k last 12 months mainly from CC points directly to QF. So I would say I was invited probably because of the number of points earn. Hopefully there are some reports on the night as if they are going to be listening I will travel down to BNE if it is just a presentation and drink on QFF I won't be interested. I could easily transfer another 3M points from Amex per year, but the problem has always been award availability. Hunting down an award flight and even the previous MASA is always a challenge for International F/J for a NB. For someone like me, having that SC on award flight even with a slightly higher burn rate will make me spend more points on QF because that usually is the only means of getting those flights.

Actually MASA awards came from the exact same inventory as Classic awards.

So MASAs did NOT provide any additional availability whatsoever.

Non-marginal ASAs still exist and still earn SC and are available on every flight.

For the CBR attendees, I have had a look at the options nearby to meet up... its pretty bleak as there are very few places that would be comfortable (ie. indoors and have seats and drinks) within walking distance and are still open at 6pm on a Thursday.

About the closest decent place is the RUC (Rugby Union Club) which is a 1 km walk away from the National Gallery. The Realm Hotel has some nice bars, but is about 1.5 km (20 mins walk) away, the same as the Hyatt, also 1.5 km.

I'm still keen to meet up with others from AFF before heading in if anyone has other suggestions ?

Ive posted a new thread to discuss the pre-event meet up for this thursday :)
