Amex velocity platinum free flight

Can anyone tell me if the cancel and re-book process still works. I was told that these fares were no longer able to be cancelled for a credit shell by Amex? Possibly a date change but definite no to route changes. Anyone have any recent experiences to the contrary?

Last year I was able to cancel and re-book for a different route, as long as the new tickets cost the same or more as the original booking, but it had to be done via Amex. It hasn't been a Virgin Australia credit shell for a long time.

Hey plutonus. I realise the credit shell is or seemingly now it would be more correct to say used to be held with Amex. From my understanding on the phone the other day it is now use your free flight as you originally book it or you will lose it. They told me no cancellations or route changes were allowed although date changes were allowed for a fee ($107 from memory). So, cancel and re book for SCs may no longer be possible??? Or the agent I was talking to was misinformed :S

I just went through this and upgrades are still available as per previous years, presumably together with SC earn and FF but its a process and you need patience and time.

This is the answer that I got recently. I asked to cancel and use the credit to put towards a different route and was told that there are no name or route changes. Can it only be upgraded to a Flexi fare on the same route?

i have also got a similar answer for a flight which I have cancelled 2 weeks ago. The agent said i have to pay $107 and reissue a tkt for the same route only

I can't see a ticket number on the pdf of a booking. Is that normal or do we have a problem?
