A query re supplementary card holders....

If they were to apply for this offer, would they be eligible for the bonus points?

Theres been several reports that existing (primary) cardholders received the bonus so i expect supp card holders would too. I would just select 'dont currently have amex' when applying.

Would you recommend cancelling the supplementary card before that person applies?
also re the referral bonus-do you need to old the platinum edge yourself to be able to offer a referral and thus get the bonus for yourself and the applicant?

You need to already have the Amex Velocity Platinum card to be able to offer this referral. You cannot offer this card if you only have the Plat Edge card.

Supplementary card holder is not considered an amex member. Only the primary card holder is. The comment above is inaccurate.

Supplementary card holders are approved on the primary card holders details/income. The liability for a supplementary card holder credit is on the primary card holder. I doubt very much that a supplementary card holder would get sign on bonus points. I would suggest phoning Amex before applying.

They're talking about supp card holders applying for NEW accounts with themselves as the primary card holder. In those cases they would get the bonus points.

Just interested to know - anyone have info (or a link) for the details about complimentary flights? The T&Cs say flights are available "between selected Australian cities"; would I be correct in assuming that means MEL, SYD, BNE and maybe ADL, and that only the shorter hops (eg MEL - SYD) would be included and, say, MEL - BNE would be out?

This was by far the easiest CC application ever. Applied online on Friday, approved on the spot and received the card on Tuesday!

Ditto for me - signed up Mrs V and myself separately and approved in less than 24 hrs.

The bonus on this card is certainly good - but the points it earns at supermarkets is only one point a dollar. Which is plainly inferior to what one can earn with the Platinum Edge card.

The complimentary flight seems to go to more places in Australia than does the Platinum Edge card's flight.

On the other hand, the discount of up to 50% (it can vary) on Business Class fares on code share flights with Etihad or Delta could be extremely attractive. I couldn't see that this benefit was a once a year thing like the complimentary flight is.

Renato

My thinking as well. Significant other signed up (and approved) but most certainly wont renew given the pretty terrible direct earning Vs the much cheaper platinum edge (with choice of transfer partner).

Lounge passes and slightly further/better flight benefit aren't worth an additional $154 given the earn in my books (if you don't intend on using the business class discount feature)... Platinum edge is really a fantastic card for the money though (FAR superior point earning, local champion bonus PLUS regular 15% bonus to VFF).

Thanks, but what's the "regular 15% bonus to VFF" about please?

Throughout the year, maybe twice pa., there have been offers to transfer points from Amex MR and other cards to Velocity with a 15% or 10% bonus.
