Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

I just got a new veda score and it went from 766 to 679 after applying for this card. I just signed up with Veda a month ago and wonder if this is normal? I heard people said it costs only about 20 for one application.

Nope, these are your sign up points, the referral links your friends used will show as individual allocations (e.g. 5x20,000).

The bonus points are credited when you spend $500, the T&Cs say $1,000 but looks like $500 is the trigger (I had a friend at work test the $500 rule and it worked for him as well).

Congrats on the 220,000 points coming your way!

yep, and the notation on the referral bonus clearly identifies as per below

I have had the same thing happen, increase in credit score the month after an application, however the next month with zero extra activity the score has been reduced to below the amount before the increase. Go figure

Applications are only one factor in scoring but one of the effects of this is that applications can have differing "weight" on your credit score, e.g if you already have 10 applications on your file 1 more probably will have a minor effect.

In my experience about 70 but it does remediate fairly quickly (3-4 months).

Let me guess, this was Experian! My experience with Experian is that have a timing issue, e.g. I applied for a card in April, they only recognised this in June. So this is likly to be a timing issue.

I applied for 3 cards this year and the last 2 was just 1 month apart. Will keep an eye on my score as I would like to apply for one more card this year :D Creditsavvy score not moving much though. Down only 8 after this card.

Hey all, might just ask this here (originally posted in the referral thread) to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

Has anyone had issues with the referral bonus being delayed?

I had a friend use my referral last Thursday and was instantly approved but points still haven't shown. When others used my referral they points posted the same day as they were approved. It's reasonable for them to take a 1+ weeks but after the last ones posted that day I got nervous they've somehow missed this one?

I had some delayed for weeks and then a bunch arrived same day.

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

Maybe someone can answer a question I have............I checked my wife's AMEX Velocity "My Transactions" list last week and noted that the 2 lounge passes and the "Virgin Australia Domestic Flight" were on the list. Today I was checking for her referral bonus and noted that the domestic flight is no longer listed (but the 2 lounge passes still are).
I presume the flight should still be listed because it has to be booked through AMEX and we haven't used it yet.

Or am I missing something simple? Thanks

The "free" flight is a benefit of the card. Unless you have used the flight, it will be available. Despite what shows in the account, when you call amex to book the flight they can see the redemption activity on the card if any.

All this to say, if you have not booked the flight associated with the card then you just call up and book when you want to.

No Veda, I'm signed up for their premium service which provides monthly credit score updates. I do agree however that somehow this is a timing issue even though the new application registered on my credit report in that month it seemed to affect the score in the next

I have Veda too. My score also goes up and down a bit around the same level as I keep applying for cards. But, have done a big spring clean to just keep about 4 relevant ones.

How do you find out the Velocity account they are putting your points into, just can't seem to work it out

The Velocity account number is printed on the bottom front of the Card - right below your name

I thought this was something they asked on signup?

Yep they do

here is the question form the application... You probably just need to make contact with VA get the number and contact Amex to make sure they are linked

Thats what I thought, so even if NO there should be an account.

The only way I can for there not to be a VA FF no is if the one you gave was invalid!
