same thing for the Priceline pharmac_ on the corner of Warrigal and High st. They said because they're a small business franchise they can't take it. Just to confirm, Chadstone Priceline takes it no problems.

Priceline Caulfield also does not accept it which was very bad for me after I had three expensive prescriptions filled and couldn't use the amex to pay. Let's all tell these retailers we will be shopping at other outlets who accept amex. I am now using priceline Bentleigh who accept amex.

We also had an existing amex when we applied, no bonus points yet, but I am hoping they come through soon.

yeah and don't forget that amazing 10 points per $ earn @ priceline.

Re: Amex Platinum Edge via priceline, no fee first year, 13500 bonus pts for $200 spe

Suggestion on workaround.... buy (via the velocity estore) a giftcard to Priceline to meet the $200 minimum spend. It can be broken down into smaller giftcards (minimum of $10 each), and have a 12 month life. I noticed in the small print, that not all Priceline stores accept Priceline giftcards (so worth calling your local store before buying).

Re: Amex Platinum Edge via priceline, no fee first year, 13500 bonus pts for $200 spe

interesting... Will buying a priceline gift card still give me 10 pts per dollar on my amex? If so, I can buy the card at a priceline that takes amex and use it at any priceline. However, would buying a priceline gift card from the velocity estore give me 10 points per dollar?

Re: Amex Platinum Edge via priceline, no fee first year, 13500 bonus pts for $200 spe

Yes, I think you can buy via the Velocity estore - and the Amex Edge should recognise the transaction as Priceline and also give 10 points per $1. I will attempt when the card arrives.

It doesn't seem likely actually, as the giftcards are sold through a different URL (www.pricelinegiftcard.com.au). Still, if you're willing to try a small value, it'd be great to know if it works.

Great news: after our discussion, I bought a $50 gift card. I got 500 points for the transaction. Its a good thing I had the card as I tried Priceline in Mount Waverley today and they don't take amex either. Seems like we will need to buy gift cards and then use them for the purchases. I will let you know if I got the velocity points as well for buying the card through the estore. Thanks kcoulson for the clever idea! Just so you know though, it took a full 24 hours to receive the card by email and the people in the store weren't sure how to handle an egift card, I had it on my phone even though it says you are meant to print it out, they were able to enter the numbers manually.

Re: Amex Platinum Edge via priceline, no fee first year, 13500 bonus pts for $200 spe

Today I went back to Priceline Caulfield with my gift card and they refused to take it because I was buying a prescription. I told them that the only reason I bought the gift card was to use there since they don't accept amex. I said a gift card is meant to be like paying cash and they spouted some nonsense about government regulations. I would not back down so they eventually accepted it but I don't know what is going to happen in future with paying for prescriptions. Looks like I am going to have to go back to Bentleigh where they accept amex. It is annoying that priceline offers this card when so many of their stores won't accept amex.

The terms and conditions for the giftcards do not list prescriptions as excluded. What's more, the section on exchange of goods (5.3) explicitly mentions purchases of prescription items by giftcard, clearly implying that such purchases are possible. So either Priceline Caulfield are breaching the terms of the giftcards by refusing to accept them for prescriptions, or Priceline (the company) is using misleading terms of use.

I know, I came home and studied the terms and conditions as well. I think Priceline Caulfield is just being difficult, I may take it up with their manager for clarification. It does say that not all priceline stores accept giftcards so perhaps they can argue that since they are not required to accept the gift cards, they can determine which purchases it will accept them for.

Re: Amex Platinum Edge via priceline, no fee first year, 13500 bonus pts for $200 spe

I tested the new card out today - no, I could not purchase a giftcard for Priceline via the velocity estore (would not allow me to). So I spent $100 online through the estore, and then separated bought a $100 giftcard (after ringing the local store to check that they accept the giftcards). It will be interesting to see whether we get the 13,500 points (since this wasn't the first amex card).

Success - (although holding and declaring existing amex cards). After $200 spent at priceline, the 13,500 bonus posted. Very pleased - we are going to keep this card.

Priceline gift cards can also be bought at Qantas via the Giftcards.qantaspoints.com website wonder if that will qualify?

We also hold and declared existing amex cards, no bonus for us yet, even though I spent the last of the $200 at priceline on 18/9. I wonder if we don't get it at all. They have even combined the point accounts into one online.

Any update on bonus points yet?

Hmmm, no idea. My +1 and I are both thinking of getting this card and you seem to be the only one to report no bonus points despite having another Amex. I guess it's just a suck it and see scenario for the bonuses, but we're mainly interested in the free flights, 3 x supermarket points and 2 x fuel.

yoyo - are you looking for bonus points on your amex membership rewards section?

Re: Amex Platinum Edge via priceline, no fee first year, 13500 bonus pts for $200 spe

It's interesting. Even though I set up two different logins for the two accounts, they have combined them so all the transactions show up in one list and all the points accruals for the two cards show up in the points section. Yes, that is in the membership rewards section. I was also mostly after the free flights and triple points with supermarkets etc.

Do you have one account (with a supplementary card) or 2 separate accounts?
