All AU Diners Club personal cards will be cancelled in January 2024

With Diners now finished, where are you sending the last points if you have stored them up

I was thinking of Virgin as the rate is good, but I would be missing out on the current 20% offer, I've got about 320,000 to send somewhere

I hate the three year expiry but I think I'm going to send mine to SQ. I'm going to wait until June and do it then to get maximum expiry from them.

Goodbye my old friend of 33 years...:( Received my final DC statement today...have 2000 pts left so will transfer to Flybuys (only program I can TF 2000 pts to). It has been a very good relationship over the years ...you were my first credit / charge card. Unfortunately many retailers didn't like or want to accept you, which made it harder and harder to use you. :( However, I used your free lounge access feature many times as did my 5 Supp card holders...just in Jan, we had 14 lounge visits amongst all of us as a last hurrah.....and best of all, the card was fee free for life for me....F.... you NAB!

Still no sign of any change at all for me; no emails, nothing unusual showing on my account page on the DC website. Maybe I have slipped under the radar!

Oops, looks like I spoke too soon: have just received this via e-mail:

We want to let you know we will no longer offer the Diners Club® Corporate Card from 15 April 2024, and as a result you will no longer be able to spend or earn points on your Diners Club Cards on and from 15 April 2024 and we will be closing your Diners Club Card(s) account ending in 4662. Your account will automatically close on 30 July 2024, unless closed earlier at your request.

I have had this card since 1994, originally via my then-employer. however in the early 2000s they stopped using DC as their company CC, and around 10 years ago I parted company with them. However, tDC continued sending me new cards and I continued using them with no apparent problems.

There were some benefits in using DC:
- lounge access where I don't otherwise qualify
- 1:1 points transfer to QF
- 30 day interest-free payment window

However, it seems that DC is now gone forever in Australia, A bit sad.

I've had mine since 1982. Bloody NAB - bought Citi and unlike Commonwealth with Bankwest & Westpac with St George, couldn't leave it alone.

Somewhat different transaction types, and given they only bought the Australian business and only have an agreement on the name and systems for three years, they didn't have much choice.

Got a letter in the post from DC today....maybe, maybe there has been a change in heart from NAB and they will keep DC in Australia...nup, just a reminder to redeem ny Diners rewards by 31July, otherwise they will be forfeited! :(

This topic is now a completely dead duck.

I suggest that Mods archive it.

Can't fully remember, but do you not get more if you route them through Virgin?

nah not IME - 3 years and they're gone.
Not time scale, actual KrisFlyer miles

100,000 Diners to Virgin is 1:1
then
100,000 Virgin to SQ is 64,516

100,000 Diners direct to SQ is 1:2
100,000 Diners to SQ is 50,000

It would also give you a little more time in SQ if you left them in Virgin for a while before transferring

Thanks for explaining that. I hadn’t thought about that. That’s a good idea. I haven’t sent anything to Virgin since they went bust. I still have memories of losing my Ansett points when it went bust. But might do this.

I’d like to leave them in virgin a while to get maximum life out of the Diners points because when they get to KF the clock starts ticking. The risk is Virgin going bust again or the transfer rate to KF being devalued again or taken away permanently.

I've used this system before and there is no time delay for the points to show up, for me they arrived straight away after sending

assuming the answer is no but just checking is Diners part of any bonus point promotions with Velocity atm?

My impression is not as they’re not looking to keep us as customers since the service has been shut down. Never hurts to ask :)

Not seeing any Velocity promotions now.

I bought several Woolworth (No expiry) and Coles (4 year expiry) vouchers.

I think I’ll go sq via Belocity as has been suggested. Was originally planning to hold the points in Diners until I needed them but can’t do that with the shutdown.

Got another letter from Diners last week reminding me that the card is no longer usable and to redeem my points by 30 July as my account will be closed then and the points will be forefeited....if they bothered to check my balance, they will find it is zero!
