ALL Accor+ Explorer Membership Discussion

Perhaps a quick question. I'm Accor+Platinum with my Accor+ membership expiring at the end of the month. It will cost me $229 USD to get a new membership (new members get 14 months for 12 months) which will get me 20 nights, plus effective October 1, two free nights in Asia Pacific an additional 10 nights towards status and 15% off stays at 4000 Accor properties worldwide. However, I also notice that Accor offers the Voyageur program for 200 Euros per year (i.e. same price as Plus) which provides the 20% discount worldwide on Luxury & Premium brands and a 15% discount on Midscale and Economy brands plus 20 nights towards status.

At present I have racked up 28 status nights this year (NONE of them being bonus nights from Accor+). I'm living in Germany now and so will do a decent amount of travel around Europe so Accor discounts will matter to me.

I'm wondering if someone could give perspective here. Would it make sense continuing on with Accor+ or should I make the switch to ALL Voyaguer? The only benefit I can see from the Voyaguer would be the slightly higher discount at Premium brands although looking back at my prior bookings, most have been made at midscale (i.e. Mercure, Handwritten) or economy brands (i.e. ibis).

The two free nights in Asia Pacific alone go a good way to cover the cost of subscription for Plus.

Are you on track to reach the Platinum 60 night threshold anyway (cause +30 on Plus vs +20 on Voyaguer)?

If you don't stay at luxury or premium brands, then the voyageur 20% is moot.

with this new accorplus, can I book 2 stayplus on the same date (each two night to qualify)?
eg. 21-23 october - 2 night stay - 2 rooms - 2 stayplus to use, is this possible?
1 or 2 booking is okay..

Not as a two room booking. Maybe separate bookings for the same dates:

(c) A maximum of one Stay Plus Free Night benefit may be used per stay (a stay being consecutive nights in the same hotel).

One other question if I may about the revamped Accor Plus program (if anyone has the answer). Suppose I were to sign up in September for Accor+, I would get 20 nights then and there. But according to the latest news surrounding the program effective October 1 they will issue 30 bonus nights for members. How would this work for me? Will I be issued 20 in September and a further 10 in October (to match the 30 they promised)?

If so then I think the clear winner for me would be the Accor+ program

I've read the website and nothing in there says that they will hand out 10 nights in October to existing members. All it says is that members will be upgraded to Gold. Unclear if they will hand out 10 nights to everyone or only to Silver members.

Yes - I think regardless of whether you renew a subscription, start a subscription, or wait until Oct 1 to sign up under the new program, you'll end up with at least 30 bonus nights by early October. Just keep in mind though that the relevance of extra bonus nights is not what it is today, as the maximum number of bonus/free status nights that are counted towards your annual status at the end of the year is 30 nights. I don't think this caveat affects you however, as you look to have (or are close to?) the true nights to cover the other 30 needed for ALL Platinum.

Cheers,
Matt

My Accor Plus membership expiry is 31 Aug (membership via Amex Platinum). Not sure why the stay free certificate for next year already got credited to my account today. Anyhoo used it to book Sofitel Wentworth for a post-xmas staycay.

This has happened to me for the last few years. I suspect Amex confirms it's renewed for another year and ALL provision the free night. I intend to wait till that single free night converts to two free nights and not restricted by availability. My plan is to make use of one of them at the Raffles.

Hopefully they remove it from the exceptions list so you can do that.

Also I renewed my A+ on the 18th August but am yet to receive the 20 or 30 nights, and my expiration date is still 30ty September 2025.

I was emailed the receipt and confirmation of purchase. Do these dates only rollover once the previous year is passed?

Where in the T&Cs does it state this, I couldn’t find it?
It’s in section 2.6 of the revised terms which take effect from October 1st 2025:

Your follow up question is also answered in part c) of the pasted clause, which was the same situation as it is currently. The nights should credit at the start of the membership year, which is October, for a year ending September.

Cheers,
Matt.

Thanks Matt. I must have misread it.

My renewal date is on the cusp of the old and new program. If Platinum is achieved again in 2025 prior to the October 1st change of program, do you think the old rules apply of no maximum to bonus night? I may achieve platinum again prior to October 1st, with more than 30 bonus nights in that calculation (like 40 bonus nights). With 20 made up of actual stays. If they apply the new rules when it flicks over, I will need to stay another 10 nights. But I had reached the target before the program was modified.

That first question is the one we’re not certain of in terms of the answer… but my assumption - which I’ve also noted further up thread - is that members who have reached or retained Platinum on or before 30 September 2025 by any means will most likely hold that status through the end of 2026, as it was attained during the current T&Cs and where no limit on bonus nights applies.

If you are not credited with your bonus nights until October, however, you would then be reaching or retaining Platinum status after October 1st with the new T&Cs in play, and so you would need at least 30 actual hotel nights for the year, in addition to the 30 bonus nights from A+.

Cheers,
Matt.
