It's an even better deal for those of us who only got 20 nights at renewal which they will take back on cancellation for pro-rata refund, but then replace with 30 days on sign-up to ALL Accor+

Do you know if there is a wait time between cancelling and signing back up?

And also that you need to spend or stay twice as much or twice as many nights over a 2 year period to maintain elite status as was required up until now; assuming membership was managed optimally

Accor has had twenty years of giving away Platinum in various forms, not surprised they have tightened up in this area, at the end of the day the easier to get the status means the benefits are diluted.

Yep, been throwing around status like confetti and the old saying of “once everyone has status, no one has status” is very true. Only have to speak to some of the loyal Accor folks to see how the benefits have been diluted.
I do think there will more changes in the coming years and purely from a selfish POV there needs to be some better perks for Diamonds and maybe even tighten it up a touch

Yes - it’s felt like every man and his dog was a Platinum Plus member at the properties I’ve been at, and in chat groups I’ve participated in, and am looking forward to see if ALL Diamond makes a difference in terms of recognition or service over the next 15 or so months, after I soon qualify.

If putting a stop to the A+ status extensions and capping the bonus nights at 30 doesn’t clear out a good number of Platinum elites by Jan 2027 (and I think it actually should have that effect), I wouldn’t be surprised if the perk of lounge access is moved up a rung to Diamond, or is limited for the luxury tier brands like it is already for Fairmont.

Being unable to use the stay plus for a single night at a nicer/pricier hotel is disappointing, but the rest is not too bad.

I’ve never been treated different is A+ Silver vs. Gold so don’t think that will make much difference, at least in APAC.

Just looking at what they say, and what they don't say about the revised program, I also wouldn't be surprised if Platinum members lost lounge access, in fact I almost expect it..

My membership runs out end November, and I have requalified off spend (almost all at properties selected to give a full haul of status credits), expecting to finish the year between 35-40 real nights. It would seem the go would be to defer reenrolling until 1 January, pocket the 30 points, stay at Ibises and save a fortune. Not sure if that is the outcome they're looking for. Also suspect 10 more status nights bonus will result in more members tripping over to Platinum, and more incentive to dilute Platinum benefits.

Still thinking about that strategy. Not sure if I want to spend 30 nights at Ibises but the incentive to stay at full points haul properties is significantly diluted.

The other thing I'm wondering about is what will happen to the membership fee. There's nothing I've found in the FAQs to say they won't enhance that to match the enhanced program.

So I just spoke to the Accor customer service and was advised that old memberships with 20 status nights moving across to the new Explorer card will be given an extra 10 status night on the change. resulting in a total of 30 nights that is given to all new members.

So when I got the email to auto renew a month early. It said I would get 10 status nights, plus 20 status nights. I renewed at the price of $360.

So will I receive an extra 10 nights on top of this? According to Char's phone call?

Yes they said to me when I paid also at $369 to renew (not the $349 it now is ) they will give you the extra 10nights once it rolls over to 1st Oct. feel free to call and check yourself but that’s the info I got.
Also still might use free night and then cancel and rejoin at cheaper price.. also gets you 14months on membership instead of 12

So if anyone is not a member of A+ and has at least 10 nights coming up by the end of the year, they should sign up to A+ by 30 September to get 20 current status nights and 30 nights on 1 October to get platinum next year.

I don't think this is exactly correct - not everyone will get 30 Nights on 1 October by my reading of the information. People will get 30 nights when they renew - so in my case, on 1 July 2026 when I renew, I will get my 30 nights. So as I read it, the only people who will get 30 nights on 1 October are those who renew during September. Unless of course they count everyone as a new member of ALL Accor + on 1 October, but I don'tt think that is what they mean.


I may well be wrong as I don't find Accor's correspondence easy to understand or clear in intentions - ever!

Assuming you have 10 status nights up, and you've renewed A+ by 30 September (giving you 20 nights), you should get platinum next year as an additional 30 nights will lob in on 1 October.

Again, I am not fully sure that this is correct. The terms and conditions seem to suggest that you can only count a maximum of 30 "free" bonus status nights per year.


So I would take that as reading if you already got 20 bonus nights earlier in the year, and then you get a new 30 bonus nights on 1 Oct, you would only be able to count a max of 30 of those nights towards status for the year.

But @Flyfrequently, as you already have 24 nights from hotels, plus 6 more before end of September = 30 nights, then if you renew in September, on 1 October you will get the 30 bonus nights and this will give you 60 nights. You will become Platinum as soon as they process that (so for the rest of 2025). Then on 1 January 2026, they will look at your status nights for all of 2025, and as you had 60 before 31 December 2025, you will retain Platinum for all of 2026. To retain into 2027, you would need to generate 60 Status nights during calendar 2026 - 30 of which would come on 1 October 2026 when you renew your ALL Accor+ membership.

Yes, I think Seat0B is correct.

I'm currently Platinum with Accor Plus September expiry and 14 status nights this calendar year. I was going to rely on the old December formula to keep Platinum to end 2026.

As best as I understand If I renew in September, then the 30 bonus status nights will accrue on 1 October (so 44 status nights). A few comments are indicating upon renewal on 30 September 2025, I should get Platinum under the old December rule (to 30 September 2026?) but the text quoted by Seat0B really creates doubt:

"Status will be assessed each year on 31 December..."

In my case on 31/12/25 I will likely be 44 status nights.

Have I got something wrong in my reading? It actually leads me to the conclusion not to renew Accor Plus at all, until I plan to dine a few nights or try to take advantage of RedHotRooms or something similar..
