They should have launched the new program on 1 Jan to avoid this issue of people being caught out by unexpected status downgrades. This year was my "use points to pay" year as I thought my status was secure until next year.

Assuming you have 10 status nights up, and you've renewed A+ by 30 September (giving you 20 nights), you should get platinum next year as an additional 30 nights will lob in on 1 October.

Or don't you have 10 nights at the moment?

(I do feel for the people whose renewals are in October to December, as they're getting screwed over by the removal of the 'best of the last two years' rule and the fact they miss out on getting the extra 20 status nights from A+ renewal that those who renew by 30 September do.)

Just to clarify my similar position. Accor + renewal due end of September,.
Currently have retained Gold. till next year notified 28 JulyView attachment 463184At present I have 24 nights in hotels with 6 booked for September giving me 30 nights by 10.9.25
If I renew in September I get 20 nights + 10 bonus giving me Platinum.
Does this have me Platinum until September 2026?
If I hold off and renew in October, when do I keep Platinum until - December 2026?

The timing of these are unfortunate. I was hoping to use my 20 nights from A+ to requalify for platinum but given that my renewal is in November (via Amex) I'll be blocked by the cap as I would have reached 30 max from China.

Any ideas how I can get around this?

I don't think everyone will get 30 Status Nights on 1 October. In any case, if they did only a maximum of 30 status nights would count.

I will gladly pay in drinks of your choice at the Melbourne AFF gathering if someone can sort me out. I know some of these questions may have been answered once or twice but having read them I can’t readily apply then to my own situation.

I have only been counting on or needing to be platinum next year.

My plus subscription auto renewed on first of August effective 31st of August. The 20 days credit have not yet appeared so this is what my account looks like.

with my current 14 nights booked to the end of the year,plus the 20 from my August renewal I’ll fall 3 short of 60 nights but that wouldn't matter because my status next year under the old system would carry over from this year and that’s all I need.

So with the changes

* does my platinum this year no longer carryover to next year?

* If not, I have to earn a hard 60 nights by the end of the year to requalify?

* do I get stuck with the 20 bonus nights under our system rather than the 30 nights under the New?

I would hate to do a mattress run to get the three nights because they changed the rules midstream.

Could I cancel my already auto renewed ( effective end of August) and reapply say in October and get 30 nights?

I’m also going to book my free night before 1 October so I’m not forced into having to pay for an extra night given this new buy one get one free change over. I’m not sure this new change is for the better. Less discount on food, having to pay now for the free nights, a crackdown on subsidiary cards and needing more status nights to become platinum.
Also we just renewed and turns out no one of the sales team told us of this new change coming into effect only two months after signing up again.

You're actually in an pretty good position if you can use it prior to 1st Oct - You can can burn it, then cancel for a pro-rata refund and then sign up again at the discounted rate if you can find ongoing value.

I'm Gold now, will have 10-12 nights by 30th Sept.

Shall I renew early and snag the 20 nights? Or should I let it lapse and renew on 1st Oct with the 30 nights?

I'm not sure the detail is out there to answer with total certainty for the current year, where old and new program rules co-exist. It will come down to whether the new rule around a maximum of 30 bonus nights from Plus accounts contributing to status nights will look at the mix of existing (Jan-Sep) and new (Oct-Dec) added nights, or if it would only limit the bonus status nights generated after October 1st.

Is there any way that in your remaining 14 nights, and taking into account any ancillary spend etc that you would make Platinum on spend / status points? That would certainly be a more assured means without that knowledge around the status nights. Based on your current tally, you would need to spend another 2,700 EUR (A$4,824 at today's rate) excl taxes between now and the end of the year to do that.

Your status would not carry over without re-qualification by some means for the 2025 calendar year. This need for re-qualifying each year is easily the worst of the changes, for mine

Just to clarify the cliff notes of all this... Everyone in ALL+ will be gold instantly meaning that tier is basically flooded and worthless.
But it will mean that Platinum is a bit harder to get as you can't stack bonus nights so it becomes a bit more valuable?

I'm within a bees proverbial of platinum and will likely make it this year without too much additional effort but feel like I should make sure I get there.

Booked spend to the end of the year an additional 3168 euro (and that’s a figure I’d rather not have known in advance!) but that includes taxes. With additional dining etc. I’ll probably go close so thanks for that tip.

yes, thanks. Currently lying in bed on an SQ flight to Singapore and a stay at the Pullman Hill Street so a bit limited in resources.

I’ll earn 6168 status points, so about 700 short; pretty close, not counting any additional spend.

Are you coming to AFF in Melbourne later in the year? I owe you a drink.
