While not a big city GIB has to be up there, even if to the northern edge
I suppose one could argue a huge number of regional airports would be "absurdly close" to their city/town centres.Shame even that Reddit post isn't high quality.

Well there you go - Cairo airport is closer to downtown than Melbourne - and some of the drivers on the Tulla freeway drive like they are in Cairo too.Came across this - not perfect, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Having travelled to both Cairo’s 2 lanes exit (23 million) probably takes the cake over Melbs 6 lanes (6.5 million)Well there you go - Cairo airport is closer to downtown than Melbourne - and some of the drivers on the Tulla freeway drive like they are in Cairo too.
Have experienced the pain of travelling to and from TFU - another one in China that seems ridiculously far out is YNT - its like they got Stevie Wonder to throw a dart at a map to decide where they would build the airport.
I describe Cairo to people as being "27 million people... who all own a car... but have never had a driving lesson in their life..."Having travelled to both Cairo’s 2 lanes exit (23 million) probably takes the cake over Melbs 6 lanes (6.5 million)
Was just about to post this too. My professor used a model with a light fixed to a toy plane to demonstrate the noise illumination and shadow zones (and the buildings affected by it). I recall seeing some pretty cool images of jumbos flying between the high rises. The old HKG (Kai Tak) was pretty close…

Love the outdoor cinemas in Broome which are underneath the approach. Can watch a movie and plane spot at the same time. Two shows for the price of one.Broome, Western Australia. From my office in Chinatown I could see the flights on approach along what seemed like the main street.
