I was watching the documentary, Airport, on Foxtel last night. It seems to be centered around EasyJet based at Luton in the UK. One of the sub-stories last night featured a young guy from Perth named Luke. He had based himself at Luton and did 5 return trips out of Luton on EasyJet in 5 days. He was an avid frequent flyer and had a log book that he completed for each flight - aircraft rego #'s, take off time, top of descent, landing time etc. etc. I suspect that the show was recorded pre 9/11 as he asked if he could speak to the Captain on the flight deck and was allowed to do so. The shot of the coughpit door showed no signs of any security what so-ever. As the show closed, the narrator commented that Luke had completed another 50 sectors elsewhere in the world by the time the show was (originally) aired.

My question is this. He sounds like the sort of person who would frequent this web-site. Does anyone know him? How much travel does he do a year? Are you lurking out there somewhere Luke?

JB

I think you were watching Airline - not airport. Airport follows Heathrow and all the airlines. Airline follows Easyjet (but started with Britannia) and Airline USA follows Southwest.

Something tells me someone like him would certainly be lurking over at a.net

It's Luke Chittock - don't know if he's on this site but he is well known on the Sydney Airport board (when it's working) and on Jetspotters.

His appearance on Airline is referred to on this site.

What is up with the Sydney Airport board? It seems to have vanished without a trace.

Yep, seems to have been down for a few weeks now. Luke was always a reliable source of inside information.

Arthur Hodgson,

Is it important - no!

Is it worthwhile - no!

It merely arose out of my curiosity to understand who Luke was and how he achieved the obvious massive amount of travel that he did.

Apologies for screwing up your day, but you do have the choice to read it or not.

That's about as nice as I can be!

Arthur Hodgson,

Possibly & Maybe.

On the other hand is your question important, worthwhile or even appropriate?

No & No.

From a personal viewpoint, I've enjoyed watching all three programs from time to time - a bit of light humour, a couple of drunk or inane passengers with no basis for their complaint and some decent characters (for example, on Airport - Stuart from the Animal Quarantine area and I think John from QF is hilarious).

I googled young Luke and came up with http://http://www.jetspotter.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?=&p=27225 this gem... Its impressive and looks like i got more reading to do now! For your own enjoyment google his name and see what you come up with... Seems like a bloke to have on your next flight that's for sure - that is if there are any seats or meal trolleys left... You'll understand what i mean when you click!

I feel proud in the knowledge that if I don't happen to catch the rego number of the plane when walking toward it I know where else to find it.

Young Luke would have walked right under it as he walked in the doorway of the aircraft.. the metal plated above his head at the door entry also has the rego number of the plane...

Hopefully Luke reads this so he won't ever have to worry about bothering the poor hostie again...

Why would you subject yourself to that many easyjet flights in a short space of time - they don't have an FF program do they?
