Bad loads, wrong aircraft they say...
AirAsia X not to choose Dubai as alternative destination
Long-haul budget carrier AirAsia X has no plans to start services to Dubai or any other Middle Eastern destination, according to the airline's top executive.

The Malaysian carrier said yesterday it has decided to terminate its services to Abu Dhabi from its Kuala Lumpur hub, three months after the airline started operations to the UAE capital.

Given the large number of subcontinental expats living in AUH and DXB, a connection from Karrachi to AUH or BOM/DEL to AUH would work you'd think, although guess they dont like a KUL transit, and they are served well direct by EK/Air India etc.

This is pretty shoddy really.

I have 3 return trips KUL-AUH booked with Air Asia X for March/April.

Haven't heard a word from them, and there's nothing on their website. My flights are still showing as confirmed!

The moral of the story is book with Air Asia X at your peril!

Well, you'll all be pleased to hear that I have fixed up my first trip. One day I will get a refund from Air Asia, but probably not any day soon.

Cost $800 extra to rebook, but I will save 55,000 Mileage Plus miles. And I now have a round-trip ticket on EK to LON for approx AUD 650.

So you win some, lose some, but DON'T fly Air Asia.
