Air Canada RJ impact with ground vehicle, at least 2 fatalities

I seem to read near misses or hits at US airports on the news each week now.

I can’t say I recall the same 10+ years ago.

Latest is that the two pilots are confirmed deceased, a flight attendant was ejected through the front of the aircraft while still strapped to her seat and is being treated in hospital, and the ARFF truck ended up either on its side or upside down - given that they weigh around 40 tons that shows the force of the impact.

Sounds like the truck though it was at D.

Did ATC previously tell the truck to hold short of RWY4 at D?

It appears there were more than one truck - "truck and company" and ATC approved RWY crossing in front of the Jazz express (accident aircraft)
.....

Possibly the aircraft JZA646 had just landed or about to land when approval given for the more than one truck to cross the runway.
Screenshot at the time when approval given to cross - relative to the position of the aircraft.
If crossing at D (as intended?), the impact may have been worse as the aircraft speed would have been higher.

Tragical - I wonder whether the system should change and call it as Delta or Echo??

D is always referred to as Delta, E for Echo etc, as it was in the recording above. It's just notated as D or E for brevity.

ARFF truck can be seen lying on its side in the left of the picture - looks like the CRJ T-boned it.
