My manual calculations are now pointing to the evening hours of 25 May.

Who is going to be online then? Not only is it a Friday it is during oz fest.

Just do a quick backtrack with the post # and the winner will be revealed. If it is around evening of 25 May then the winner will be serfty, if it is a little earlier in the day then the winner will be littl_flier.

By that method aren't you assuming there are no post deletions between the time of the 70000th post and when the check is made?

Okay may not be unreasonable, but nonetheless not failsafe.

I will be at the Pier (or Wing) from 2PM to 9PM Hong Kong time on Friday....

or both (you have plenty of time)

I don't think we can delete our posts anymore, only moderators and admin.

With the civilised guessing contest we have this time around most predictions have more than a few hours window. I think backtracking to find the 70,000th post is possible and under the circumstances close enough is good enough.

Now if there was a sheep station as a prize.... ;)

We thought about. In fact the planned arrival time is 14:10 so after security disembarkation it is like to be 14:45 before we get to the lounge and boarding is going to be about 20:40 - so only 6 1/2 hours. We also have a few hours work to do so its not going to be worth the hassle of going back into the city - and its a loooong way we found last time.

Current plan is to get to the lounge and depending on the food on the KA flight we might have some lunch and then get the report written from this job work on the other stuff we have to be ready for the following week and finish up working at about 5-6PM. Then it will be a nice dinner (we are travelling F so access the good side of the lounge) a few beers followed by straight to sleep on the aircraft.... well maybe a sample of dinner anda G&T before sleeping ;)

23 min to central on the MTR. Not really such a loooong way :!:

Didnt realise it was that close - normally take a cab.

I will chat with tgtwwm to see what he wants to do. It does seem a little off trooping into HKG shopping after you have been flown up there F class to do business....

I really like Hong Kong; even for transits. It's not just the wing/pier, there's a lot going for the place these days.

The day return Airport Express for HKD100 (~AUD17) to Central. It runs every 10 minutes and as Bill posted it's very quick to Central.

More than that, if you need to check luggage and are using the airport express train, you can check in at Central or Kowloon up to 24 hours before the flight on same day.

However you really have no time for shopping; you need another 2 hours or so. (If you wanted to shop, get off at Kowloon saving 5 mins each way and head N/E, perhaps to 'ladies market' and buy SWMBO a handbag :p.)

SO perhaps in your situation, the airport is the beter option.

FWIW, Last Month, myself and mrs serfty were on QF128 back to SYD at ~9pm. Checked bags in at central and arrived at Airport ~4pm. To Wing for early Flounge buffet meal then a relax and off to gate 40 minutes before the flight.

With the posting frenzy of the last few days continuing, my manual calculations are now pointing to the morning of 25 May.

I thought it was like making edits - there was a time window in which you could do it.

I think that is right - within edit there is an option to delete. But you need to get into edit in order to delete.

And all we are doing now is post padding to bring the 70,000th post forward as much as possible. This seems to happen everytime one of these silly contests commences.

This site has busy days, and it has quiet days. Could be that you just notice it more when there is one of these silly contests?

Possibly. Some people who have no interest in participating in these silly contests certainly go out of their way to stir the pot....
