(e.g. me).I don't think it's a conscious thing - it's more a critical mass of active members (and that they enjoy each other's company), the perceived intimacy of the MEL lounges over SYD, an ability to get flights with points more easily from MEL than SYD, and I think SYD's just a more porous place than MEL, so it's harder to hold on to people for a particular area of interest.
