Regrettably I might be a late scratching. I have just been told that I need to be elsewhere for work tomorrow, so may not arrive in Sydney until quite late.

I am trying to ascertain the actual finish time of my workshop and will advise.

Sorry to hear that, Penegal. I think we'll be there until at least 9:30 pm given we have 12-14 people coming. That's a lot of wine to taste. So do pop over whenever you do arrive (and if it's before 10 pm). If not, then we'll see you next time. Fingers crossed you make it even for a quick drink ...

Thanks Wozza. Unfortunately I must confirm that I am a scratching. Apologies, the times just don't work. The earliest possible departure time would get me there quite late, and then there is Thursday to contend with. On this occasion the alchemy of fitting personal life around the job has failed :(

I'm rather disappointed as there are several people on the list I would have liked to meet.

I hope you all have a great night and I will have to meet you at the next one.

As a side note I have 2 bottles of a lovely 2008 drop with me if anyone is passing by, and wants to take them along.

See you at the next meet penegal! I'm sure that won't be too far away if all goes well tonight. Could even save your 08's until then :p

I have our matching pairs of wine ready for tonight. Hope we won't need gumboots.

Thanks Penegal. Sorry you got bumped by work this time. As DrSammyLee says - there will definitely be another one coming soon. So hopefully see you then.

For all others coming, get excited: the score sheets are done, the name badges prepped, the al foil purchased, and the venue briefed and food ordered (we have a banquet setting because of our number).

I still haven't decided which twin set of wines to bring. Will it be the amazing flagship limited run Barossa 08 from a boutique producer, or the iconic Margaret River 08 blend? Decisions, decisions ...

Oh and the KUPE 13 will be making an appearance as a gift from me to the group - that will be the warm up wine..!

I am on my way - in the ADL QP now. I've been carrying my 2 bottles since leaving Tas on Monday - too late to change my mind now

I hope it's a Tassie wine Steady - such amazing terroir traits.

See you soon ...

No, not a Tassie wine this time - I only have singles of tassie wines in the vintage range and my local wine shops don't stock much aged wine.

I thought about grabbing something from Dans while in SA but decided to go withsomething I have and like

Looking forward to a great night and meeting some great people.

Also wondering whether I should unscrew the lid to get a bit of air into mine which will be on the fuller side??

Me too.

And yes, I am going to do that around an hour before we meet.

Mine says to decant 3 hours before serving, so I guess i should open it now while I'm in transit. I'm sure nobody would object. :)

However extracting the cork may present a few logistical issues...

Maybe if you worked during the day rather than playing on AFF you might get your job done and be allowed out to socialise at night :p;):)

I fear home advantage may be giving me an unfair opportunity! Or maybe not - maybe my low grade screw cap offering that is airing away will still fall short of Delectable Blue's highly desirable cork / 3 hour decanting offering! Only time will tell ...!

Not long to go now ...

Thanks everyone for such a great night. Great wines and terrific company. It was very enjoyable, hopefully we can do it again soon.

Many thanks to Wozza and Katy for your organisation of the event. I'll never look at Al Foil in quite the same way again.

Cheers
D.B.

P.S. Hope you all found your way out of the Centerpoint maze. It took me about 10 mins to find the only exit on level 3. Just made my train by the skin of my teeth.
