I'm excited to see half the wines in the golden oldies category (2000-2006). Should be fun to see the age contrast with the newer vintages.

Good spot, DrSammyLee.

The Golden Oldies are 2000-2006 for Pool 1. The Young Pretenders are 2009-2014 for Pool 2. It miraculously worked out that there was a fairly even split of quality and range of wines in each Pool, despite the age range. It will be intriguing to see how the wines go as there is a great line up in each Pool. More details to be revealed to the group when we meet [SOON ...]

I'm amused that there are no wines for 2007-2008. Terrible years for Cabernet grapes or such brilliant years that no one wants to share? ;)

The 2008 Yalumba The Menzies was pretty good (a vinomofo deal from the early days IIRC). Sadly I only have one bottle left and aging that one for a few more years for a comparison down the track...

We drank one recently. The 2006 was also fabulous. Found the current vintage at Costco recently at quite a mark-down compared with Dans so tucked them away.

I have a definite lack of 2007 bottles - not a great year in many areas from what I've read, and not much seems to come up in offers these days. Whilst I have a few 2008 cabernets, I thought something older would be in the sweet spot for good cabernet.

2008 6.8% Bottles (72)
2007 0.5% Bottles (5)
2006 4.2% Bottles (45)

Is that ~1060 odd bottles of just Cabs or everything? Either way, nice stash! :D

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.... ( or, after Christmas lunch , sorry about the horizontality)

Not that type of event, huh? ;)

Feel free to come along to one and find out - everyone is different (Penegal for instance doesn't drink  ) but a night trying different wines does not mean a night getting drunk to everyone.

My comment you have highlighted was meant tongue in cheek to Wozza's earlier photo ;)

Wish we still lived in Sydney so I could meet all you lovely folk and try some of these amazing wines. Will look forward to the tasting notes at some point soon :)

I have landed and am on the train. ETA 7-15 hopefully.
